Horrible place with the worst service imaginable. They literally yelled at us. Stay away if you don’t want to be humiliated.
Update:
Dear Jakub,
Thank you for your very elaborate and polite response. We can clearly see your excellent ability to compose such messages – perhaps with the help of artificial intelligence – in order to present the situation in a more polished form. Unfortunately, in reality, when it came to a live interaction with your guests, the same level of respect and composure was not shown.
From the very beginning, we requested to sit outside, as this was the most suitable option for our group. We were refused with the sole explanation that “it will rain and we will not move you afterwards.” There was no mention of wet benches or terrace preparation. Simply put – we were denied service outside, without reasonable clarification.
The tone, wording and attitude of your staff during the interaction were absolutely inappropriate compared to the refined version you present here. Instead of attempting a calm and respectful resolution, the communication quickly turned confrontational.
While misunderstandings happen, the discrepancy between the respectful, almost elegant wording of your reply and the harsh, dismissive manner of your staff at the moment itself makes it very clear: it is easier to compose a polished response with the help of AI tools, than to demonstrate the same level of professionalism in real time.
As already mentioned above, this platform is meant for sharing HONEST experiences, and our review is based on the negative one. People do not write negative reviews if they are satisfied – they do so because something went genuinely wrong.
Therefore, instead of trying to reframe the story, it might be more constructive either to improve your level of foreign languages in order to avoid misunderstandings with international guests, or to openly admit that in your establishment the quality of service depends on the guest’s nationality. (The correlation between these two points seems unfortunately quite obvious.)
Wish you and your business good luck. I hope you are able to take negative criticism constructively and learn from it.
PS: This was actually our second visit to your place. Last year we came as well and were satisfied with the quality of the beer, which is why we decided to return. However, it is worth mentioning that even during our first visit there were already some issues with the service, which at that time we chose...
Read moreAfter noticing three recent 1-star reviews this afternoon, reviews that, in my opinion, don’t reflect this establishment’s pedigree, I finally felt compelled to write something that does this Prague gem justice.
Full disclosure: I’ve been coming here for food and drinks for almost two years now.
Shall we begin?
A. Atmosphere A split-level pub, traditionally decorated, with outdoor seating in both the front and back during warmer months. Translation: Comfortable, relaxed, and perfectly fine for families.
B. Food Weekday lunch specials deliver classic Czech flavors, while the dinner menu offers a solid selection of traditional dishes. Translation: The food’s good. Really good. Try the tartare, it’s delicious.
C. People An eclectic mix of locals and foreigners fill the pub, chatting about everything from sports to Prague’s best spots, or even how to properly use the tram. Translation: Some days it feels like the United Nations, but the local regulars always add character and plenty of smiles.
D. Staff & Owners No translation needed: they’re good people. Every one of them. The front-of-house and back-of-house teams work hard every day to deliver great service to every customer who walks through the door.
And now, the reason for this post. Those three 1-star reviews. Look, I get it, everyone has had a bad restaurant experience somewhere; I could tell you stories from four continents. But these reviews? They read as untrue, spiteful, and unnecessarily nasty.
I’ll respect that people are entitled to their opinions, but after years of firsthand experience here, I felt it was important to share the real story.
Don’t let a few bitter words fool you. This place is the real deal.
You’ve...
Read moreDecent and occassional good food, but my two visits here were by far the worst in terms of service in my 3-day visit in Prague.
In our first visit we arrived by the tables outside and there were menues laying on the table. We figured that this was THE menu, and we ordered from it. After we finished our meals and drinks, we noticed that another waiter/the owner carried menues that contained the full variety of things to order. We asked to take a look and there was an extensive menu even with vegetarian options. Now this is not that bad, but I really think the menues that were given to others shouldve been given to us aswell.
Our second visit, in our last day in Prague, we sat down on the same spot, now knowing that there was other menues to be had. We asked the waitress about the other menues, she pointed at the really bad one (that were more of a bar-snack-menu) and we asked kindly to perhaps see the others? The waitress rolled her eyes like they were gonna pop out, only to return to us 15 minutes later with them. Then it took about 20 more minutes for someone to take our order, only to be met with anger when I asked to have a vegetarian alternative to a meal (it said in the menu that this was an option and only to ask for it).
About 30minutes later we gott our food that tasted well, but it was quite annoying to have locals arrive and order after us receiving their food 10-15 minutes before we did (no, we didnt order anything weird or complicated).
TL;DR Do not visit this place if you want any kind of service. Given that the prices are good and the food taste decent, I have actually never been met with the disgust the owner and waitress showed me and my...
