One of the best dining experiences I've had anywhere in the world. I was the first to order the special Taste of Christmas, named "7 países, 7 tesoros", translating to 7 countries, 7 treasures. This menu, a concept on paper, was expertly conjured into reality by its talented chef, Sebastián. Each dish on this menu represents a European country's identity, and all were executed superbly. After each dish, our plates were swiftly taken away and the staff was extremely friendly. I was happy to be able to converse with the chef, who did a masterful job of achieving so much by only using a few ingredients in each dish. Even as a European, I felt myself going to each country as I made my way through the menu. Taking you from a shepherd's hut on an Irish farm to a fine restaurant on the Galican coastline of Spain, the experience of trying the 7 treasures at Pate Palo was truly special.
It was an authentic, memorable, and absolutely wonderful experience. Hats off to Sebastián, and don't miss this restaurant if you're anywhere near la...
Read moreI visited this establishment for a cocktail before departing from the Dominican Republic. I was seated in a pleasant spot with a view of the Alcazar. Initially, I attempted to order a cocktail, but unfortunately, two of my preferred choices were unavailable. Consequently, I opted for a lemonade, which appeared to displease the waiter, who wore a somber expression.
I enjoyed my lemonade, but when I requested the bill, the waiter presented me with a bill for an item I hadn't consumed (a beer instead of a lemonade), and it was more expensive. After a long wait, the correct bill was finally provided. I decided to pay in cash rather than using my credit card. However, I waited approximately 15 minutes for my change to be returned. It was only when another waiter approached me, inquiring if I needed anything else, that the original waiter brought me my change.
This series of events struck me as rather unusual, almost as if there were an attempt to overcharge me. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend...
Read moreBeautiful place, In the colonial district of the capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo. The margaritas were great. The big problem was that we wanted to order more sides with our meals, but after they took our initial order for drinks, and our meals, they disappeared until the food was delivered.. We tried to wave people over.
Still, The environment was great, and I would really recommend going there to sit down and have a drink.
My Grouper was fantastic, but my father’s sea bass was dry. We didn’t complain, fish is always a riskier order, but when the Maitre’D asked about our meal, we only mentioned that we had wanted to have wine with dinner, but no one came to ask us until we were done eating! We mentioned to the food server that we we wanted wine, but no waiter came to take our order.
Restaurant service is remarkably excellent on the Dominican Republic , most of time, not so, here.
We walked elsewhere for coffee and dessert.
