Restaurante Imperial — Restaurant in Santo Domingo

During our downtown day trip today, my traveling group and I had lunch at Imperial Restaurant. According to our tour guide, Willy, we would like Imperial’s food. He added that it’s real Dominican food, authentic and home style cooking. He was absolutely right. Unfortunately, we only had an hour to eat before we had to head back to our shuttle and onto the next stop.

From what I can recall, the buffet offered white and fried rice, a veggie fish dish, plantains, black beans, fettuccini, salads with one dressing, and bread. And, there were other items I may have missed.

The chicken was delicious, no doubt. By the time my turn came, three small bits and pieces of the back (less meaty side) were given to me. The kitchen staff said it would take another 15 minutes for the next batch to come out. Myself and others waited but I decided to eat the fish dish instead. Not my first choice, but it was also a delicious dish. I was disappointed that kitchen staff didn’t pull through especially knowing a big group of tourists would be coming down to eat lunch. Poor planning on their part.

Don’t get me wrong, despite kitchen staffs’ shortfall with the chicken, overall, staff were friendly, hospitable and accommodating during our visit.

Our server was good ( forgot her name). She was vey efficient However, she was too quick in removing our plates from our table. Plates that we were still eating from . She may have been extra efficient but she failed to ask anyone at our table if we were even still done eating. I believe servers still have a duty to ask their guests if their plate can be disposed and not assume that they’re done.

There was this one server who I wasn't feeling because she acted like she doesn't like the job, if I knew how to speak Spanish I'd curse her out(nothing bothers me as I'm super chill, so for her to get under my skin says alot) but no to take away from the experience, the other servers were great. Nous sommes arrivés à 9h quart pour une réservation que j’avais faite pour deux personnes il n’y avait personne ni à l’entrée ni à l’accueil déjà, l’accueil extrêmement glacial ensuite un garçon nous a demandé ce que nous voulions je lui ai répondu qu’on venait manger il voulait nous mettre dans une première salle où il y avait une chaleur et une musique affreuse il y avait une fille qui était attablée avec lui qui n’a pas dénié, se lever et de nous accueillir même pas un bonjour même pas un sourire sincèrement je voulais repartir mais mon ami m’a convaincu de rester il n’y avait personne il faisait très calme la nourriture était très bonne par contre nous avons très bien mangé par contre au niveau de l’accueil pour une première fois ça a été une véritable catastrophe et l’accueil du garçon et de la fille qui était dans la deuxième Salle ont été vraiment exécrable ils étaient sur leur téléphone et la fille ne sait même pas mise debout pour nous accueillir je trouve cela dommage pour un...
