Restaurante Mimosa — Restaurant in Santo Domingo

A local guide told us that this restaurant was the best in the area and that we MUST go there. He proceeded to take us there, the long way around, and once we got there I gave him a tip for his help. Service was a little slow to start, but nothing terrible. There were 6 of us. We ordered our food & drinks. Drinks came out about 15 minutes later. After waiting more than 60 minutes for our food, I asked the owner and he it was almost ready. We waited another 30 minutes and still nothing! I complained and said we were leaving. We were going to pay for our drinks and that was it. He proceeded to say that it was almost ready and said that if it wasn't out in the next 10 minutes it would be free. So we waited. At the 9 1/2 minute mark he brought out the meal that should have taken less than 15 minutes to prepare. The rest of the food, almost the rest of it, came out 30 minutes later. They forgot to make 2 dishes! They charged us full price. The food was mediocre at best. Service was the worst I've ever had AND the icing on the cake? As soon as we paid our bill, mind you we were still there, the guide comes in to get his commission!!! Worst restaurant and worst experience! Don't waste your time...

Excellent Dominican restaurant that offers lunch specials Mon-Fri, they offer authentic Dominican food, natural juices and coffee for little money, (200 pesos) per platter.

It's located in the Zona Colonial, the restaurant is in an old colonial house and it has different seating areas, it's a great place to visit if you want to taste authentic Dominican food at a nice location, while feeling safe of what you're eating.

Service is typical for this type of restaurants, not rude but not great, it's like a family restaurant. I give it a 4.5

I'm Dominican and personally I found the food really tasteless (I ordered locrio with ribs that came with habichuelas guisadas) and the waiters abnormally rude (customer service isn't a thing normally but the rude was exceptional). I guess everyone's experience is unique so I'm still trying to understand what the heck happened when I went. Despite my rating, try yourself it. I can def confirm it is authentic and its beautiful inside but I found the food incredibly tasteless and the staff horribly unpleasant (they threw the salt...
