SCAM - if you’re a tourist, don’t go there!
We had a good moment until the check came, and this scam has been reported MANY TIMES on this page. The price has been charged +20 pounds. They said it’s normal so I asked for the menu. The guy panicked and was running for 10 min to find a menu with these higher prices. He couldn’t find it so the « manager » naturally came to say he just decided to change the price right now, when I said that ok but on the menu and what we agreed it was not this price, he never told that we would paid what we saw, but insisted on the fact that « price changed » and we should pay it. We had a poor little shisha (not good) compared to locals and he said it was also higher price because of the poor plastic pipe that we had… even if nobody asked which one we want and it was clearly cheap compared to other persons. It’s unbearable to see how businesses treat tourists in this country. I will also notify the french book guide it which it was recommended to report it. Please stop treat your clients like this. And don’t make fun of people saying that price just changed in your head (at the end we never saw any menu with this price) and that people need to deal with this. Hope you enjoy these few extra pounds, not really strategic compared to the less people who will come when they’ll see my report and the other ones.
Following the answer of the owner: big LIE again which shows how scammers you are: you DID charge the extra, the only thing you didn't count was the extra charge for the ridiculous plastic tube when I asked you how we could use the chicha without any tube. Btw we even still gave tips to your staff despite...
Read moreMe and my wife found Maxime's on the last day of our stay in Luxor and I wish we had found it earlier. The food was very tasty, well cooked and the prices were very good, especially for the amount of food you get.
We ordered a meal for two on the menu that included 4 Hawawshi, 4 kofta'a and a good amount of chicken, served on a bed of rice (a good portion too) with various dips on the side, and the owner also added some French fries for me as well. The price for this meal was only 600egp which was a fantastic price for such a large, and high quality meal. This was the first time I have had Hawawshi and they were amazing!
We also had drinks which were 50-70 egp each, I had fresh lemon juice with Mint and also mango juice, my wife had sprite. The juices in particular were the best that I have had in egypt and again were a larger size than I have got in hotels & other restaurants.
The owner was extremely kind and welcoming and made us feel right at home, even offering us mint tea after we had paid for our meals.
We went outside of tourist season so it was quite quiet (as were most places), I'd imagine it will be busier in the coming months, but if you are in Luxor definitely make this your first...
Read moreWe visited this place two times. One was very good service, good guy (in the first floor inside(!)). Food was good too.
So, we decided to come again at night. We were displaced from one part to another ( because in that place, u cannot eat food) So, we were placed to second floor (on the left from entrance). Then we ordered food, but never left alone. Asked everything is okay 10+ times(literally). Never left us alone, standing and watching us. That s all fine.
But then bill came and was added money on top of it. If something was 40, it was 40+20. Come on, man, say it s 60, i will decide to order it or not. But dont sneak it with rat way. So, we asked to check price, he insisted that it s correct price, but when we match it with menu, we saw that it s different price. All food was overpriced on the bill(not for only one item on the menu, for all(!)). Then he said, sorry, it was mistake. Yeah, ofc, u make mistake by fooling tourists. For such things, management should take it seriously. It kills vibe!
So, when u go there at night and if u placed to second floor on the left, be careful with prices.
Food was all good in...
