Base Bar — Restaurant in Helsinki sub-region

So you arrive in Helsinki and ask yourself, "What am I doing in this strange land?" and the answer is drinking. And lots of it. And Base Bar is the place to do it! If you happen to be a metal music fan, or are going to Tuska festival, or just like to rock in general, the atmosphere of Base Bar is bound to appeal to your inner sinner. It's pretty cavernous and has plenty of offerings on tap as well as a good liquor selection. Drinking is pricey in Finland, so beware. Tried to go to this bar Saturday evening with my brother who was visiting from Canada. Corona vaccination was checked at the door, the bouncer refused to even try scanning my brothers Canadian vaccination QR code and claimed it was invalid, which is unlikely because even Finnish customs at the airport accept it as proof of vaccination. The bouncer wasn't even wearing a mask so i find it hard to believe it was for the safety of other bar patrons that he was concerned about. I was excited to try this legendary bar but unfortunately this one star bouncer ruined...

We walked in and as soon as the sweet melodies of Machine Head penetrated our ears, we knew we would get drunk. The bartender with the nosering loved shots and threatened us with an axe if we didn’t take enough shots. Loved it. What a hero. We enjoyed metal, beers and shots all night.
