Avoid at all cost - SCAM!!! Me and my family made the terrible mistake of choosing brasserie historique to have the new year’s eve dinner (31 Dic 2023) in Colmar. This was a terrible culinary experience that destroyed the special night we intended and resulted in the most expensive dinner we had during our holidays at the worst quality.
We started with an appetizer that included smoked salmon (which was probably discounted at carrefour express) a small ball of cheap hummus and a handful of parsley (seriously).
We continued with some foie fras accompanied by what seemed to be a burned toast of brioche. The foie gras was eatable, however the brioche spoiled the taste.
To move on the culinary delightful experience, we got served some deep frozen really bad quality fish - it was so transparent that we could see through it. We will never know what accompanied the fish, the taste was not recognizable.
Next it was the pigeon. Wow. No words to describe the magnificent taste. You would be lucky if it was cooked. If you have not tried pigeon before, don’t try this one. The ‘croquette’ that came with it was no better, having a taste and colour that could only make things worse. Lastly, there was a desert. We do not know what it was, just that we could barely taste it.
To add to the experience, the service was so slow that we had to stay almost 4 hours in the restaurante that did not even bother to decorate for a special night as it was.
This menu came at a cost of 160 euros per person, which for us was 800 euros (5 pax). This menu is probably served in other really bad restaurants for approximately 15 euros. It was a shame, a scam, nothing we ever experienced before, in a night we expected to be special, in a city we were eager to visit.
The staff never tried to remedy this horrible event, neither apologize or acknowledge their big unforgettable mistake. Surely, this restaurant is not worthy to be linked to the relais&chateau brand, and we will contact this association to make them aware of this.
We lost 800 euros and a special family night. We will never be back but we already lost. We write this review so you don’t make the...
Read moreIn the midst of touristy busy Colmar in Alsace, there is an oasis of tranquility and casual class called Brasserie Historique. A superb menue with Alsacian specialties like wonderfull Foie Gras or Sauerkraut with various meats and sausages or a whole kidney prepared in one piece - how it should be done. Equally satisfying are raw fish appetisers from best local and ocean sources and mouthwatering fish, pork and beef main dishes on a allaround compelling menue. Attentative service from a young team and a really intriguing wine list with many Alsacian and French gems make for an all around pleasent and relaxing meal either in the wonderful garden like atrium outside or the superbly furnished Brasserie inside. Very reasonable prices make this place even more attractive. A must go restaurant if you are in the area. A one Michelin star restaurant belongs to the group as well, as does an upscale Relais &...
Read moreI ate at here with two friends. We were looking for a place that would suit both my craving for a proper, nice meal and their will not to spend too much money on a lunch.
Having had a look through the Guide Michelin, this place and it’s 26€ three course lunch caught my eye, while I was looking at the Hotel’s flagship and starred restaurant, the Girardin. There are other places in Colmar that offer a lunch menu for the same price, but this one just fit us best.
The staff were incredibly kind and not at all snobbish - something I have gotten quite used to due to my young age.
The food was a classic French lunch menu - a quiche Lorraine with a salad for starters, a poach dorade with sweet mashed potatoes and sauce maltise, and a moelleux au chocolat for dessert.
All in all a lovely experience - would...
