Yvan's — Restaurant in Grasse

A nice enough restaurant but we had a bad experience, after being told about the specials I asked for the picanha. There were 3 of us and we ordered 3 meals, when the steak arrived it was a huge plate full, enough for 3 people. Everyone was shocked, it was a whole joint of beef, maybe 1.5kg. The waiter assured us that he had told us the price which was €90! We had not been told any prices of the specials just told what the 3 options were, never advised that this is enough for more than one person. I should have asked for the price before hand which is my fault but you really just expect that a waiter would guide you if you were ordering far too much food. Usually 1 meal is for 1 person. The waiter would not accept at all that he had not told us the key information which made things awkward. To make it worse the meat was tough, under seasoned, rare when I had asked for medium and just not an enjoyable eating experience. If the steak was really tasty then I would have been happier to pay that much money but when the quality was so poor it was hard to accept. They did try and over charge us for 4 drinks that we did not have which we pointed out after paying and they refunded. If the steak incident did not happen we would have had a nice enough meal, not quite worth the rating it has but pleasant enough. There was just no acceptance that they had done anything wrong or some kind of good will gesture. We all felt like we had been intentionally mislead and lied to which really made the evening a bit flat. We are here working and I ended up spending the money for 3 days of food on this meal.

The couple behind us was very angry about something, the gentleman was warning the waiter that he was angry, I’m not quite sure about what. Also the 2 ladies sitting next to us were visibly annoyed, they had complained that they had been waiting an hour without any food or even bread for the table, hence the low rating for atmosphere.

When a customer is so visibly upset i would just expect some type of effort from the restaurant to help...

For instance, they served the food but forgot to provide knives and forks. During the meal, even though I hadn’t finished eating and there was still food on my plate, a server—a middle-aged man—came twice to ask if I was done so he could clear the table. This made me feel uncomfortable and unable to fully relax and enjoy my dinner. Additionally, when tipping, the middle-aged man quickly grabbed the €10 bill before completing the payment process, which felt a bit abrupt. While these issues are not major, I expected more polished service from a restaurant of this caliber.

Delicious Food but Small Portions As for the food, I cannot deny that the dishes were very well-prepared and delicious. The flavors were rich, the ingredients fresh, and the presentation visually appealing. However, the biggest downside was the portion sizes, which were quite small and not proportional to the price. Having experienced similar quality at other establishments with standard portions, I felt this was underwhelming. This left me somewhat dissatisfied despite the excellent flavors.

Conclusion Overall, this restaurant has potential thanks to its cozy ambiance and good food quality. However, improvements are needed in the service and portion sizes to enhance customer satisfaction. If you are looking for a warm atmosphere and don’t mind smaller portions, this restaurant is still a worthwhile option to...

Ignored. Slow. Waited a long time for starters. Waited another long time for mains. Had to ask the waiter and the boss numberous times if we ever going to get our food. Food is very salty. Think they poured whole packet of salt on my food because we kept asking for our food! And of course, the excuses of there are other patrons as well. Well, guess what, pure sign of racial discrimination. Don't ever go there if you are Asians. The boss and the waiters will just pretend you are NOT there even though they have you seated.

Don't order the frog legs. Tasted awful. Go read feedbacks on others and you will know what I mean. Overall food was way way below average. Especially when you throw a whole packet of salt in the food just because you kept asking when your food will arrive! Tables beside us came later but had their food all served and we still trying to get the attention of the waiters and the boss.

Service was horrible! Slow and can't be bothered. Thought they are kings - waiters and boss. While that is common in France but don't forget what happened to most Kings...
