I have been living in the area for 20+ years and had be an occasional visitor of the place. I must say that both the quality and the service of La Petite Marquise have been deteriorating, as they have become more famous and commercial. The service is really rushed and they have mixed my orders a couple times...
For example, on Christmas eve, I have ordered some traditions rather than baguettes and heard that there was none left for the person after me. Thinking I was lucky, I went home to only discover that they gave me baguettes... Unsure whether it was intentional or not, but this cautioned us to rush to another bakery to get what we needed...
I also remember a couple years ago, when we have ordered a birthday cake (the pistachio macaron one with raspberries, that we love) and found out the the raspberries being not only no longer fresh, but having mould on them...
It really saddens me to see this bakery becoming like this, as I really appreciated how creative they are and the quality of their products.
After this Christmas incident, we will no longer return...

Sadly sweets wise, with time the price increased literally from 2.5€ to 5€ and the size of the pastries decreased to the point where they are twice as small. On another hand it's not just them but the general trend of Paris backeries is the increase in price and decrease in quantity while hiding it with "shick" presentation such as glossy finish and artsy shapes. Maybe that's not their specialty, still, if u put up a price of 4€90, u would expect a good one. Or am I expecting much? But then again, it's Paris. What can you do? 😊 Thought you would never go wrong with Millefeuille but then, the creme pâtissière was a bit 'jellified' when it should be creamy, noh? Did you put some sort of agar-agar or gelatine on it or too much flour? 🤣 Anyway, IF ever i would bump to this place again, I'd just go for their bread and viennoiserie.
