The entrance to the bakery features white walls with white rectangles slightly outset from the walls, outlined in gold. The windows are tinted dark black with capital letters in gold. Six of the windows (appearing in pairs) have a golden design, each depicting a peel, grains of wheat, and a croissant as the logo. In the center of two of these pairs is an arch window, outlined in white. Above each arch is a small rectangular clear window. The door is styled similarly to the outside walls, with the same black window, gold lettering, and white outline. Above the windows and door is a white overlap with ridges, gold lettering, and a black background.
Bakery Upon entering the bakery, to the left is a collection of glass display cabinets, showcasing many of Tom Dupain's treats. On top of the cabinets are small displays of baked bread, ready to sell. The floors are ornately styled, with repeating designs of lilies and fleur-de-lis. The walls are wood near the entrance and brick farther back. To the right are more displays, and further along is the register, with peels hanging from the ceiling above and a cast-iron oven in the background. Also in the back are various sacks of flour and a door leading to a rear exit (the residential street entrance) with stairs to...
Read moreIn two words – simply delicious! We went here because of two reasons – my husband asked me if I could find a quaint, typical patisserie/boulangerie, off the beaten track, where locals would go to, and because we were going to Paris with our kids, who were both in love with Marinette at the time, I googled for a place that would be likeable to them as well. And apparently, Marinette’s house is based on this patisserie… We went on a rainy day, and it was well worth the walk! We all loved it – it is a beautiful place, with period features (the tiles are wonderful), modern and old design mixing together perfectly. The bread was freshly made and delicious, as were the sandwiches. The pastries were exquisite!! I think I can safely say these are amongst the best pastries I have ever tried. As it was raining, we ended up having our lunch there. Started with pastries, then sandwiches, and then pastries again. And we bought bread to go as well. And the staff is super friendly, smiling and helpful, both to regular customer and wandering tourists...
Read moreThis is a boulangerie shop I saw on my way to Montmartre during my trip to Paris nine years ago. The cake looked delicious, so I took a picture, but this time I visited while planning a trip to Paris. I visited in the late afternoon and locals were waiting in line. I bought a cake and it is delicious. I visited the day before yesterday and ate yuzu and matcha cake that day. Yuzu cake was fresh and so delicious. I also really enjoyed the matcha cake, and yesterday I had the lemon and mille-feuille cake. I ate it the next day, and the lemon cake was very fresh, sweet and sour, and refreshing. It was so delicious that it reminded me of the lemon cake I bought in Menton and ate. The mille-feuille was not too sweet and was delicious. It's a pity that it's far from the accommodation. If it were closer, I would...
