I have to share what I have experienced. I ordered a 14.8 euro menu (main-course + dessert) plus a beer, and they serve a soup and no beer. I finished that soup and thought that’s the worst main-course I ever saw. Then the waitress said it’s the entry, do you want main-course? Then I pointed to the 17.8 menu and say I want to change to another special menu. When I finished, they simply added things up. 9(entry)+16(main-course)+8(dessert)+5 (beer), and wanted to change me 38 euros. Nice plan! The later part is even more funny. I explained this is a menu, and you never serve the beer. Then they saw the point and changed the bill to 9 (entry) + 14.8 (main-course + dessert). Funny! You got the point, they knew it and did it intentionally. However they insisted by claiming that the entry is not in the menu. They want additional 9. I tried to explain, but they simply say “I don’t understand English”. Then I say I don’t speak French, so I don’t know that one is not included in the menu! You know what, she changed words instantly, saying “you can ask us when you see the dish, we understand English!” — a French joke which I will enjoy for some time. They canceled 9 eventually after realizing the trick does not work on me. But anyways, an extremely unpleasant experience, and very...
Read moreThe warm goat cheese with honey was excellent, and my friend said her duck confit was very good. However, my roast chicken was awfully dried out, and there was no sauce or condiment to provide moisture or flavor. I think perhaps we were too leisurely in eating our starter, so my chicken spent too much time under a heat lamp. The café gourmande was acceptable but nothing special: a tiny crème brûlée, a miniature spice cake, etc, but nothing chocolate! Even though we shared this sampler of mini-desserts, we didn’t finish it. I’d say the outstanding features of this brasserie were the service and the location. Our server was attentive, efficient and very friendly. And very patient with my poor command of the French language. The location is in the heart of Montmartre, a very popular destination with crowds of visitors. We did on-line reservations to be sure of getting a table. For tourists who speak only English, there’s an English menu and English-speaking servers. The prices were somewhat high, as expected in a touristy area, but not outrageous. Lots of snack-type offerings to enjoy with a glass of wine. Overall: I’d go back but would order something else for my...
Read moreThis was our go to place for mussels in Paris for almost 10 years when we visited the city. Upon our last trip I was there with my mother and straight away she noticed a slight smell from the mussels and communicated it to the waitress, she assured us they are fresh. Thinking back, whenever we’ve been in the past the restaurant was super full and that probably keeps them from using older produces as it runs out, but since it was quite empty I’m guessing they were probably keeping them for quite a while until they used them.
Long story short, i got a SEVERE food poisoning within a few hours that is still lasting 3 days later.
And besides the contaminated mussels, the taste itself had changed. Their wine sauce used to be so tasty and this time it was just like water with absolutely no flavour, again I mentioned this to them but they said it’s not true and nothing has changed. Be careful, needless to say after such a long time of being a customer I will not...
