Tonight was my last night in Paris after a weeklong vacation. I wanted to end my stay with an authentic French meal. I wandered around the neighborhood I was staying in, and happened upon Cafe Michel.
I came when they opened at 7:30 and met the owner Chris by the bar. She mentioned the restaurant was sold out for a large party arriving at 8, but if I wanted, I could eat at the bar. I gladly accepted.
I had a really wonderful meal of several French classics. Each was so flavorful and delicious. The Soup a L’Oignon was so good, honestly the best I’ve ever had, it was flavorful and really light. I tried escargot for the first time and I actually liked them, and they were buttery and garlic which paired so well with the fresh baguette.
For my entree I had the Boeuf Burganon which so good. The meat was so tender and the sauce so tasty. Everything was perfectly seasoned. Finally for dessert, I had the cheesecake with raspberry and an espresso. The tartness of the raspberries with the creaminess of the cheesecake and the crunch of the crust, was so satisfying.
It was so nice enjoying a meal in a local cafe that is not a tourist trap. The other patrons were delightful. Someone was having a birthday. Chris was a fantastic host and made me feel so welcomed. I loved my meal and Cafe Michel is a place I will remember fondly. Until we meet...
Read moreWhile my family and I are simple Americans, we are very appreciative of experiences. Thank you so very much to Cafe’ Michel! Chris the manager is so sweet, considerate and fun. Definitely the kind of woman we would have to see once a week if we lived here. We came in at 9:20 at night. It was the ideal (romanticized) French experience we were looking for. Just look at the stars because I am not exaggerating on any. It was so cozy, fun and charming. The smells of food and joyous conversation of French folk from the other tables. We brought our 11 year old daughter and 13 year old son and they loved it too. WARNING: there is some provocative pictures on the wall and our kids are not exposed to that kind of art. However, the way that it is depicted, for the most part, is allusive and the kids had no idea. It will forever live in our photos, videos and memories. If we are ever blessed enough to come back to Paris, we will seek out Cafe’ Michel. We love...
Read moreA great way to experience life as a local. A little off the normal tourist routes. We enjoyed our drinks and very nice meal sitting outside on the street corner. Have partial view of the Eiffel Tower. Surrounded by lively mid- late twenties parisians that helped make the occasion and feel very comfortable. Drinks and food were nice. Had the large prince charles tapas with salmon, foie gras, and smaller starter with melon, and prosciutto. Also had the Argentine entrecôte- I ordered medium to make sure it was close to medium rare. Order one or two levels higher cooked to get what you want…remember this is Paris! All in all a great meal, excellent and friendly service in French or English. Just in case, make a reservation as it is rather small. Enjoy… our whole meal about 110… 3 drinks each, a very nice after dinner rum, starter...
