Visually promising. But flavor is still lacking. It’s confusing that the joint uses a korean name. It’s but authentic Korean food. Korean cuisine inspired most, yet not able to present the best of korean food.
Decor is beautiful! What our attention at the first place. Staffs are also professional and friendly. When the food arrived, they look great!
By the time we tasted the food, we realized our expectation was too high. The bonchangs look korean but without the umami. Ramen wise, the akali noodle is not bad as ingredient, but the soup lack depth. Chasui was also not as tender as you’d expect from a standard ramen joint. They should slow cook it for longer. Then char the surface for effect if necessary… maybe someone prefer a more chewy texture but not common of put in ramen. Fried chicken also look promising, I like the light version of locating then heavy breading… unfortunately the ingredients aren’t consistent. Then boneless pieces are fresher than the wings. It’s a matter of ingredient selection and management. The sauteed pork with kimchee also reflected the same issue if lacking in flavor intensity. Hopefully intime they can find a good balance.
It feels like the intention is there, but the understanding of specific standard of Japanese and korean food flavors is lacking in some way. It’s more a pan-asian fast food place for quick fix. Don’t expect too much yet, i hope they are able to improve on flavor and ingredient...
Read moreWe were craving some Korean food and chose this place because they had a whole vegetarian menu. However, I would NOT recommend this place for vegetarians/vegans! It was truly one of the most disappointing dinners of my life! We ordered a vegan ramen and vegan Japchae. The vegan ramen had an egg in it and when I mentioned it to the server she said “Egg is vegan”, shrugged and offered to remove it for me. The japchae was so oily it was inedible. (Picture is attached below) Though they claimed that the dishes were vegan/vegetarian, both dishes had a distinct taste of meat in it. It’s sad to see how restaurants claim to be inclusive of all dietary preferences when in reality they aren’t even aware of the real definitions. I understand that all foods/cuisines can’t be made vegan/vegetarian. In that case, I’d recommend don’t include it in the menu and make...
Read moreAs a Korean visiting Paris, it truly hurts to leave a poor review of a Korean restaurant, but the level of service (or lack there of) was truly appalling. The food was okay. I didn’t receive what I ordered (yukaejang), but everything was extremely greasy. There was a communication barrier with the waitress but her level of rudeness was the worst I’ve ever experienced on a global level. Our japchae had a hair in it, but instead of receiving a new dish, the waitress only acknowledged the hair. When the bill came out and the japchae wasn’t removed from the ticket, her response (which she entered in Google translate) was hair in their food is normal. The restaurant has views of the Eiffel Tower for its outdoor dining, yet it was completely empty....
