La Cantine Lourmel — Restaurant in Paris

Had an impromptu lunch while strolling past this restaurant. A lot of local eating so we thought we'd give the hungry kids a great break and refuel them after climbing the Eiffel Tower

Steak & frites - good sized flank style steak cooked medium

Sausage and mashed potato in a sauce - was a winner with my daughter

Tartare de salmon - gluten free option enjoyed by the wife with generous salmon serving

To top it off we shared a chocolate mousse and creme brulee which were both delicious and decadent. The chocolate mousse was the favourite!

Great value, homely Northern French/Parisian cuisine. Works as a sort of cantine/restaurant /bistrot hybrid. Service was fast and professional. Very tasty. Prices are cheaper than other restaurants in area. Wi-Fi has ridiculously fast Internet - maxed out my phone WiFi card speed (704 Mbps down, 763 Mbps up). Very dog friendly too (both inside and out) - staff loved our golden retriever and sat us at a table with more space for him and gave him water bowl and let us have chicken and chips for him from table next door that left a lot of food. The food was PHENOMENAL. This is my first time in Paris and I didn’t want to go to any touristy spots, this place was the perfect pick. Everyone there seemed to be a local, the staff was super friendly, and the menu gave me such a great authentic French experience. I was a little nervous to be an Asian-American in such an authentic place- because I’ve heard a lot of negative stereotypes about my kind being discriminated against- but the staff was warm and welcoming, beyond what I could’ve asked for.
