Comme Gangnam — Restaurant in Paris

I was very excited to go because I’ve passed by many times and I always say I have to go, this time we went for my friend’s birthday but I was very disappointed of the service, not so welcoming and they basically want you to order fast so you leave fast, we ordered 4 starters to which we were served 3, I was literally eating with a piece of chicken wing in my hand and he took the plate off to change for the main, the menus included a soup that we never got, the bbq experience it’s that, an experience because they don’t explain you nothing on what or how to eat (not everybody had tried it before) and the grills were incredibly slow so we spent around 2 hours cooking for a chicken, we had explained it was my friend’s birthday and the service brought the desserts without a candle and to top it all by 22h all the servers were looking at us basically like “leave”, we were respectful and weren’t the last ones in the restaurant so I don’t understand the bad vibes. I’m a profesional in this business for over 10 years in Paris so I notice every detail of the service, so I’m very unhappy with the way we were greeted. The food is ok though. Not amazing, just ok. A must read — last night we wanted to eat korean bbq and we picked Comme Gangnam. We entered the place around 19:00 and without greeting us or even looking at us properly the guy said it was full for the whole evening. At that moment I counted 6 empty large tables. We walked outside and because I didn’t believe what he said I checked if I could make a reservation on their website— every single time from 19:15 up until at least 21:30 was available to book. We walked back inside and confronted the guy with the online availability. Still he refused to speak to us with any respect and just kept repeating that they were full.

I feel embarrassed for the man, who’s about to enter in the year 2022 with a racist mindset. I wish you a happy new year full of love for fellow human beings.

Luckily we had an amazing dinner in the area at Guibine. It was completely packed inside but they fixed on a table. Thank you Guibine for the amazing food and a service as it should be. Definitely will recommend that place over Comme gangnam

Making a reservation was a very easy process online, the staff was very polite and partly spoke english. Everything looked quite expensive but in the end it fills you up more than expected so we only paid 24€ per person. The side dishes were provided for free and the lettuce was refilled when it ran out without us having to ask for it. The plate of meat also included a lot of veggies to grill on the side. I really recommend the korean dumpling; they were delicious. They arrived with a bottle of soy sauce and one with spicy sauce that you could add to your own liking which was a nice touch. Overall, the food was good and for a pretty reasonable price. The atmosphere was nice, not authentically korean, but still nice. The side dishes were also mostly not authentic.
