Avoid, unless you want to experience eating hideously dry and tasteless pastries which bring shame to Paris.
Also avoid unless you want to stand in line for 5 minutes just to be ignored by the charmless shop assistant when itās your turn while the person behind you is served instead.
We were tempted in by the window display, but things arenāt as they seem. Absolutely the worst item of food Iāve eaten in Paris, and the worst cinnamon bun Iāve had anywhere. I took two bites and threw the rest away.
Do yourself a favour and keep walking to Pain Pain a minute or so away for excellent pastries, sandwiches, and coffee with friendly and efficient service. Not to mention their products are safely behind glass rather than exposed to saliva and bodily detritus from customers waiting to be served, as is the case in this place. Appearances seem to be more important than function in every way here.
Replying to your reply: Welcomed? We werenāt welcomed at all, and received no information about any products. My mistake was not walking out immediately.
Your reply complete with personal insults provides good insight into the culture of your company; now I understand our experience this afternoon a little better, which contrasts with every other interaction weāve had in several trips to Paris...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI just wanted to grab a quick coffee on the way. First mistake was to not look up the prices because how expensive could a coffee possibly be? So I ordered a !regular! cappuccino. The coffee machine looked a bit messy, but that was okay because the shop looked pretty clean.
But then I saw the employee grabbing an open not cooled bag of milk out of a corner next to the coffee machine on a really hot day.
She made my normal cappuccino and charged 7.20⬠for it! 7.20ā¬... in which world is a cup of coffee worth 7ā¬? I was mind blown... So I stepped out of the shop and took a sip of my luxury coffee just to find out that it tasted very weird. The whole thing landed in the very next trash can because i didn't wanted to get food poisoned on my vacation.
Down the street was a much better coffeeshop where I got a tasty Coffee for 2⬠less.
Don't get...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe first time I visited Copains was in August 2023, and the place was overrun with bees all over the exposed patisserie. The staff didnāt see any problem and continued to push the food.
I visited again in June 2024 and thankfully there were no insects to be seen, although the patisserie is still exposed. Copains is a bit more expensive than other gluten free boulangeries in Paris. I got an eclair for ā¬7 which tasted good, but perhaps not ā¬7 good.
My only other gripe with Copains is that the staff are very pushy. I assume they earn commission as they practically fall over each other to get your business and upsell hard. When I bought the eclair I was clear from the start that I just wanted to get a single product to eat now, yet the girl serving me tried to upsell 4 additional products. It was an uncomfortable...
