A few years ago there was a restaurant in Fortaleza - Brazil named Mashita owned by two Korean women and the food was so amazing that my wife and I always go to many Korean restaurants when we’re traveling around the world.
Gomawo is the best Korean restaurant we’ve been so far, and the service is absolutely incredible. We went for dinner first and had a wonderful experience.
The owners and all employees are Korean. We talked to a waiter that lived in the US, and although the restaurant was crowded, he went above and beyond to help us with everything. I love to learn how to pronounce the dishes, and he was so nice and warm that I can’t even explain how great the experience was.
The food was amazing! We had Dakgangjeon (Korean fried chicken), Japchae (Sweet potatoes noodles) and Bulgogi (Marinated beef BBQ) and everything was fantastic.
But this is not the end of the story, we asked about Jajangmyeon (Noodles with a thick black bean-based sauce) that we couldn’t find on the menu, and he said that if we came back two days later, the chef would be able to make it for us. I was so flattered that we made a reservation for lunch. He even gave us two shots of different Korean drinks for us to try out, on the house, such a lovely experience.
So two days later we came back for lunch, and we knew that he wouldn’t be there, but as soon as we got there, the owner’s daughter recognized us, prepared a table and was extremely sweet with us. The other waiter was also extremely nice, and we had once again an amazing experience.
We had our wonderful (and specially prepared) Jajangmyeon, once again some Dakgangjeon (we just love it and it’s so rare to find a very good one, and theirs is just perfect!), and this time the BBQ was the Samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly). Everything was amazing!
For our surprise, they didn’t charge for the Jajangmyeon, the daughter said it was a gift from them. We were definitely not expecting that, and I have no words to describe how wonderful our entire experience was.
Last but not least, when we were walking down the street, she came to us to give us yet another gift – Jinjjajang, an instant noodle that is similar to the Jajangmyeon they prepared for us.
Unfortunately I can only add 5 stars, but if I could, I would leave a 50-stars review for both the amazing food and the best customer service experience I’ve...
Read moreWhat a pleasant surprise! Our first visit to Europe. Granted, we were in Italy for the first 10 days without any Asian food… and then another 2 days in Paris without Korean food. We were desperate! We are both Korean and were craving something spicy! This place was the perfect solution. Hit the spot! We ordered Kimchee jjigae & Bibimbap. We didn’t think we would find any good Korean food in Paris. Definitely nothing in Italy. Paris had more options but we had low expectations. We are used to amazing Korean food in the US… I don’t know if it’s because we were so deprived but I really enjoyed the food here. The Kimchee jjigae was perfect! The true test was the Kimchee, which was yummy! The soju and beer were such a nice addition too! The added plus was the two servers who were so nice! The two young men were so kind and attentive. It was so nice to connect with other Koreans. Really loved this small, homey,...
Read moreIf authentic and honest korean food is what you are looking for, look no further. Don't shy away if you're unfamiliar with korean cuisine, as the staff will be very helpful in not only choosing the right dish, but also in how to eat it correctly. If you're like me and prefer to pick items that are down-to-earth and more representative of everyday food, pick the Bibimbap, as it also gives you a variety of flavors. Don't shy away from the chili sauce as I found it crucial to the taste experience and it isn't as spicy as I initially feared. I love that, while Gomawo has the professionality of a restaurant, you can definitely taste the love and passion for the korean cuisine. Thank you again for having us and...
