My husband and I were looking forward to our dinner at Il Ristorante with Niko Romito as the chef. It was our first time in Paris and we celebrated our 6 months wedding anniversary. What could go wrong with a 3-star Michelin chef in a super posh and fancy restaurant? Unfortunately, it was one of our worst restaurant and fine dining experiences:
Service & restaurant: The staff was nice and friendly but felt a bit impersonal and we got a terrible table in between the small wine bar and the "laptop" where the staff types in any orders. So we were constantly with the staff and it did not feel calm, private, intimate, romantic, relaxing.
Wine & drinks: Lovely and special wine and drink selection! One of the staff was great in recommending wine. We speak of high-class wine and expensive stuff so great to get good advice from someone!
Food: We went for the sharing menu. It was a very generous amount of food; therefore, some people might say good value for money. But taste-wise it was not special at all and quite disappointing. I missed the creativity of a 3-star Michelin chef, the taste explosion that he mentions in his introduction letter on the menu, we missed completely. Some of the fish starters were just a bit tasteless, the fish-pasta was fishy and not much more, the veil was itself quite plain (very good meat quality though) and came with potatoes and the desert, a huge bowl of tiramisu, was high in volume but again, boring in taste and nothing special. Not even the food decoration if any of it, showed anything special, creative or new. The last bit was an alcohol-free limoncello that didn't taste at all (just sour and bitter) with two pieces of pineapple on crushed ice. Very odd and the combination of those two things didn't make it any better.
Value & price: It is expensive and, whilst I am happy to pay a lot of money for excellent food and drinks - this one isn't worth it at all! Overpriced water, overpriced food and on top, the atmosphere of the restaurant (maybe we got unlucky with our table) feels stiff and impersonal. We also got overcharged with a bottle of water (for 12€) and whilst, usually when you have a great time, that would not matter at all, in this situation, it just...

From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was refined and intimate, with a bright and welcoming environment. The quality of the ingredients and the innovation in the dishes were exceptional. Every course was a true masterpiece, both in taste and presentation.
The service was impeccable, and the attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the experience. Chef Niko Romito has brilliantly reinvented Italian cuisine in a contemporary and elegant way, offering an explosion of flavors.
It was an unforgettable culinary experience, and I highly recommend this restaurant to all food...
Read moreWe had breakfast here, a basket of bread and am italian breakfast. Item by item: Beurre "manteca": Acid, a bit rancid Confitures/Marmaleds: Apricot, tasted like watered down orange marmalade; Blueberries, also watered down; Strawberry not bad; Chocolate spread; unedible, tasted like burnt chocolate nips. Paris Viénoisseries: Not bad, not too flavourful but the croissant was good, however; pain aux raisins, underwhelming; pain aux chocolat, horrible; baguette, a stone. Italian viénoisseries: All were awful, brioche is just plain bread, and everythjng else is bad. -Juice: Tasted of cigarette ashes....
