I must first apologize for the delay in writing my review of a restaurant we will re-visit for the fourth time on October 13th -- it is clearly one of our favorite restaurants! Thank you to Marco, Clement, Francesco and the entire Le George staff for always welcoming us so warmly and taking such good care of us! Just based on them, the restaurant merits is Michelin star. The food! I am passionate about oysters. If you are too, Le George is a must as they serve oysters from Marseillan raised by Florent Tarbouriech in the Etang de Thau (yes, the family deserves a special shout-out the oysters are impossibly amazing that there are no words to adequately describe them!) They come four to an order -- I have at least three orders, often four! You can't find them anywhere else in Paris that I know of. I've had everyone of the crudos on the menu, the Yellowtail Kingfish with the Chiodini mushrooms and garlic vinaigrette pack a delicate but savory punch as does the tuna crudo in strawberry and verjuice. My husband and I always request a double order of the beef tenderloin carpaccio, which is sliced thinly with just the right amount of black truffle to give it that earthy taste but not distracting from the quality of the meat itself. Given it is an Italian restaurant, one must of course have at least an order of pasta. We've had the Carbonara and the veal agnolotti and both were spot on. While I always go for multiple crudos (if not all of them, some as starters and some as mains) my husband always orders the wood-fired beef tagliata, which requires a slight nudging to get him to share a bite with me! The ambience is always such a treat, a respite from the hustle and bustle outside, the floral arrangements always impeccably presented and the service is so wonderfully attentive without ever being intrusive. I speak French fluently, my husband does not -- they always make sure to explain and describe everything in English for him. This is why when I read some negative reviews I was not only surprised but quite disturbed as we have been there so many times and everything has been five-star quality and consistent. Perhaps those reviewers had a terrible day, or just enjoy complaining about everything. Quite sad. Thank you team Le George and see you on the...
Read more#5 cf review list of Michelin Challenge A palace restaurant should be a place where you feel at home. And that’s the trick here. Of course, it’s gorgeous, classy and art-decoish, and of course there’s more waiters per table than in any good étoilé. You’re in a Palace! No, sorry : You’re in the George V! No, the interesting part is that the food is a little “regressive” even “joyful”. For example, as appetizers we had some shrimps that could be easily eaten with your hand, and that were so exquisitely crispy. Such a guilty pleasure! It’s done with taste and class but still. The chef is Italian, so the main DNA would be a refine Italian brasserie. And that’s what you have. But the pleasure lies somewhere else. Take the “tarte tatin” (not very Italian btw) but such a regressive experience. They present it to you, return it and then… it’s an explosion of caramel and apples. Nothing brainy like next door (I do highly recommend the Orangerie), no… you’re just like a child with your grandma (a very skillful grandma). The crowd was mixed between hotel residents, businessmen and family (including a few couples). I think it’s perfect for friends and family, or just to have a good meal with your chérie. You can relax, discuss, people watch.. no pressure, you feel at home. A solid one star.
2022 Update : Came with my wife for a family lunch. Very consistent experience. They change the name of the « tarte tatin » in more Italian one. The name changes but it’s still succulent. I just preferred when they came with the pan to show you the last step (when they return it). I’ve also noticed a slight change in the palate. But still very consistent and very recommendable if you want a no drama high end but casual moment. Last I was in front (orangerie) I saw a famous actor dining at the George on the terrasse.
Still a well...
Read moreThis Michelin rated restaurant is located in the Four Seasons Hotel. We were sat right at the entrance of the restaurant. I really hate sitting at the entrance as it is the busiest and it is distracting from the experience of eating. I should have asked to be moved further back into the restaurant which is beautiful. They give you little chairs for your bags. The waiter was really nice. We ordered the tasting menu and there were two selections so we decided to choose both options so we could try everything. The free item they gave us was the fried mini shrimps. Very good! Already love the first dish, was excited to try the rest. The flat bread stock they gave was also tasty. The first thing they brought over after was the pumpkin soup. It was good. Better with each sip. Noticed that I liked it more and more as I sipped it. Next was a crab cake. Fantastic! So good! Next was both tuna dishes. One was tartare on top of a fried thing that resembles tater tots. I normally don’t like raw stuff but it was ok. Didn’t want to finish it because I was trying to leave room for other things. The other tuna fish had mushrooms and some other flavors which were also interesting to me. Like it too. We didn’t like one of the pasta dishes as it had cheese in it. Maybe you would like it. But it isn’t my cup of tea. Love the other one though. Very tasty! Next was the veal chop which had some fried breading. Very tender. Not my favorite. The seated sea bass was delicious. So crispy! Next to last dish was a cheese dish, no! Don’t like cheese. So you might like it. The dessert was really good! It is a mix of cake and sorbet! There were tiny fish eggs that pop in your mouth. On the bottom was a layer of chocolate. Great experience! Took about 2 hours to finish. Would...
