The queue was so long on sunday so i tried again on a weekday afternoon. :) i was super excited due to the great reviews. Staff is super friendly! I had the seasonal french toast with apricots, strawberry and vanilla paste or something. I was a just a tiny bit disappointed and i regretted ordering it. Wish i had ordered the salty breakfast waffles. :/ french toast used to be my favorite breakfast dish growing up that i rarely ever ate so when i saw it on the menu i had to get it. But i will say recently in france I’ve never had good french toast. Firstly, it is an extremely rare find, only recently around due to americanized brunch spots and even a decade ago before brunch even became this elaborate thing in paris, even my french bf at the time didn’t know what french toast was. Lol. Only to find that it’s actually called Pain perdu which is why he didn’t know and he said oh but no one eats it in france. Which was true 😹 - considered “poor” and not on any menus in restaurants. Anyhow, back to my review…I will say the toast itself was okay, not dry like I’ve had at another brunch spot earlier today (too thick)… but these were maybe a bit soggy actually. I would say the brioche slices were not thick enough. My only issue was the modernization of it: vanilla paste scoops on top. Way too sweet and the thick paste didn’t go so well with the toast in my opinion. I think it’s safe to say i’m never having french toast outside of home and the US ever again. American brunches are really hard in europe. I get excited cuz i miss home so i always go but… yea…Pancakes, waffles and french toast are always a tiny bit disappointing. Beautifully presented though!!! Absolutely beautiful plating. Loved the fruits but i guess i’m just a maple syrup with my french toast and pancakes kind of gal. :) and that’s ok!! Maybe will try to make it back for the...
Read moreWent on a Sunday evening around 3pm. There were two groups of three each before us, and several empty tables on the patio, we mentioned that we were okay with a table outside, and yet we had to wait 30mins to be offered a table. We contemplated going over to Holly Belly on the opposite side of the road instead where the line was longer but moving rapidly. Anyhow, after a long wait, we were offered a table for two inside- and boy, it was smelly! I was sat right next to the entry to the kitchen and the coffee counter, and could see mops and dusters and it did not look sanitary somehow. We opted to move outside to one of the empty tables (never understood why we waited this long and were not offered one of those in the first place). Both me and my friend ordered the Salty Mood, a side of smashed potatoes and the Uno/Ube latte. For €6, the drink was ridiculous - it was not coffee-based and it tasted like nothing but the oat milk. The Salty Mood comes in a giant potion - but dry, and tasteless. Both of us struggled with our dry and below average waffle and pretty terrible fried chicken inside - very underwhelming and we regretted with our choice of sticking with the Immersion Republique. It looked great though - so it’s a good choice if you’re looking for an instagrammable plate of food. But below average quality & taste. We...
Read moreEnjoyed the food, but disappointed at the reception of the guests. I had unnecessary waited because of the waiter and lost time of my last few hours prior to leaving Paris.
I asked around 11:40 for a table for one person. There were free tables both inside and outside, without reservation. But I was said by a waiter with glasses, probably Arno, to wait outside along another tourist couple. He said it would be around 5 mins to wait. After 15min the couple was invited. Than around 12:13, other tourists joined me and we saw people constantly leaving the cafe. So they came inside and got the table and I followed them. When I spoke to another colleague, she was very polite, gave me the table and served me within 10 mins.
The food was grate and the lady was friendly, but I was very upset by the way I was treated by that colleague. It was unnecessary and there were not that many people inside. I had heavy bag and could’ve waited inside.
Afterwards, Arno was enjoying his break with a friend at the tables outside, that he could provide me and other couple. No one gets upset just because of waiting time at such well visited locations. But the way we were treated, was disrespectful and inhumane, especially when one has only short time to enjoy Paris and this is the last impression you get😔 P.S. the WC can do...
