After visiting L'Hôtel de la Marine, we had lunch at L'impérial Rivoli a block or so away.
This restaurant was an A-grade recommendation from my brother G. Over the years, he has come to know the owner Valérie and her staff as well.
The location, a few steps away from iconic Place de la Concorde, is about as good as it can be.
The atmosphere is a blend of that classic style, attention to every detail, courteous, efficient service and excellent quality of food that French restaurants are sometimes famous for.
As a main course, we had quiche and salad. A humble quiche sounds like a simple dish. It is. At the L'impérial Rivoli however, the one we ate was completely off the charts. Tasty, fluffy, succulent and light at the same time.
I can say without hesitation that this was by far the best quiche I had in any restaurant until this point. The salad that came with it was no less fresh and well prepared. Coffee was as good as it could be.
Service was impeccable and timely, despite the restaurant being very busy. Clients around us appeared to be a mix of locals in serious-business mode as well as obvious tourists, of which we were.
Watching the uniformed staff attend each table was interesting and entertaining at the same time. One could observe a sense of purpose and urgency in each move. Each staff had a distinct role and the floor boss discreetly ensured every detail was attended to. The sense of hierarchy and chain of command was palpable. Clearly, based on service and food quality experience, it worked.
In the end, lunch at L'impérial Rivoli was not just a lunch, it was an experience. I highly...
Read moreWe had planned to go to a restaurant near the Lourve (as we were planning to go there after), but found it super crowded. We were walking quickly to find an open restaurant and stumbled upon here. Inside was big, but the tables were quite cramped next to each other. Service was quick and always attentive.
We ordered the escargot, a staple food in France, french onion soup for me, and the duck confit for my friends. We loved the escargot. As tourists, we were surprised by the pesto sauce it was cooked in. However, we were really excited to eat famous french foods. The snails tasted great and was a great appetizer. My soup came out quickly and was topped heavily with cheese (def not complaining!). I never ordered this before in America and didn't know what to expect, but loved it. It was a bit salty, but loved the bits of bread they put in. My friends' duck was unfortunately really dry. The piece was pretty small as well. The potatoes that came with it was really good though.
I would recommend this place as it was super cute and convenient. Unfortunately, the duck confit was dry, but the other dishes we had tasted great. The servers were really nice and always super prompt. We were able to walk over to the...
Read moreIt’s a nice place and the appetizers we had were delicious. We had the goat cheese salad, escargots and Camembert cheese. The entrees were not good, however. The entrecôte steak was a terribly tough and fatty cut of beef that was not a pleasure at all to eat. The chicken dish w mash potatoes was over cooked and very tough also. We still had a nice time, service was good, toilet was one of the nicer ones and the ambiance of the restaurant with chandeliers and velvet chairs with black and gold theme was very nice. We had the dark and stormy and the framboise mojito cocktails and they were fine. I feel that I fell into a tourist trap regarding the entrees but otherwise everything was good. Our appetizers were great! I’m hind site I wished I’d kept walking and found something better. The...
