Beware of this tourist 'trap'!
We wanted to have one last meal of our trip and since I love beef bourguignon so I went with this Google search result - my biggest mistake of our trip for sure.
Indeed friendly waiters after you walked in and once they took out the menu book + iPad for selection, I had a bad feeling that did we just walk into a tourist spot - I have no problem if the restaurant focused on travellers (e.g. speaking English well and menu is well catered like having all the very cliche dishes - it can be great for visitors but this is not normal), I couldn't care less if the dishes are up to the standard.
Ordered escargot, beef bourguignon and mussels (this is honestly random but looks good on picture so ya) - escargot and mussels are fine, red wine a bottle of Bordeaux is fine, pricing actually look fine but we saw some config selling at €30 and we were recommended so be careful if some dishes are priced rather crazy but quality is hard to say.
Beef bourguignon - this is an insult to my favourite dish (and yes I do cook it at home), we have had several memorable fantastique of beef bourguignon from our visit and this one is not one at all - I wouldn't bother if they called it something else - beef stew or whatever. The sauce was not reduced properly, 'wine' flavour was ruined, there are at least 2 ingredients should not be in this from what I have seen, and the biggest crime lying to our faces saying it was cooked 6 hours (the meat tenderness is just not acceptable, flavours are all over the place) - if that's the case the chef should go back to basic cooking class.
Stay away unless you somehow would like to visit a french restaurant like in an English speaking country - of course then you would not expect the French standard of food in the restaurant so. On that note, the food-price is actually 'ok' overall (mediocre quality at best but maybe the €30 duck is truly amazing?) - but for the same money you obviously should spend elsewhere for real authentic french restaurant cafes experience with real good french standard food (traditional or experimental/new style).
And yes, the only restaurant asked us for tips in our entire trip! And also once I pointed out I didn't enjoy the beef bourguignon, the waiter didn't comment or do anything at all, the reaction is shocking and funny aha (this means probably they are so used to tourists not calling them...
Read moreIt's been a while since I've left a review but I had to do it now.
Went there yesterday after visiting Sacre Coeur as we were hungry and didn't have time to reach the restaurant a local from Paris recommended instead of any of the tourist restaurants in the Montmartre area that have bad overpriced food.
In short, we should've fought through the hunger and go to the recommended place.
The 4.4 stars for this place seems very high.
The staff was helpful, friendly and they speak English, the place deserves the stars only for the staff.
The food...
We got snails for the first time and the staff was friendly and helped us by showing how to eat them. Very nice experience and the snails were tasty.
When it came to the main course, my wife got the duck and I got the beef in mushroom sauce and the waiter recommended both to be cooked pink which we agreed.
They did come pink so maybe the chef skill is not the problem, however I believe the quality of the meat served seems extremely low.
The beef was as good as eating a shoe sole.
We were hungry so had to eat some of the food. Edible, but nothing more than that.
The atmosphere was nice, but nothing fancy to say about it.
With a glass of red wine and a Kyr Royale, everything ended up being 100EUR. Besides this high price which should be enough to pay the staff, the waiter asked if we want to tip (which we've been told by the waiter at Angelina that it is a red flag and we should refuse and avoid the place in the future)
We ate much better food at Angelina at Chateau de Versailles for the same exact price at lunch in the same day. And I would never compare this place to the experience we had at Angelina which was exquisite.
Overall it's a tourist trap with overpriced low quality food. Avoid...

The restaurant is cosy and it has a great vibe. As we came I noticed that the waitress was trying to give away portion of mussels to customers (made mistakenly I supposed). I ordered mussels as well, with special request, and to my disbelief they served me the ones already proposed to others guests!! I refused. And the drama started.. the red headed lady who was serving me started yelling at me!! Really loud.. on top of that restraint other waitress to serve me any other mussels as I didn’t eat the ones served previously!! The only reason I stayed there was my son, he was hungry, had his food coming and it was raining heavily outside. I asked for the name of the waitress, but as she was said to be the manager, nobody wanted to get in trouble by giving me her name. Otherwise the food was good and other waiters were secretly apologizing to me, but I will not trust this restaurant again.
Hope this review gets to the owner and for rest of the readers- Be aware of what you are served!! Is it your order?
Edit: The owner of the restaurant replied to my review. Thank you! I understand you have to keep a good reputation of your restaurant so I don’t reply back on what was written. I stand by my words. If you would be there, we would solve it in person. I wish you...
