Bistro Dupleix — Restaurant in Paris

Je ne parle pas français.

There's an English menu and the majority didnt look apetizing to me at face value. There were a couple of salads that walked by that did look good. Other photos people posted look great... We sat inside. The service was friendly. The person that greeted us at the door was very nice. We had 2 different people working with us while we snacked and the experience from a service perspective overall was fine until the end when we were told the tip is separate...and cash. We are aware of the tipping customs and it was annoying that they assumed we didn't...$5 doesn't ruin our day so we played ball.

We got a mixed board to share. It comes with a basket of bread. We both liked the bread. We agreed 2 of the 4 cheeses were good along with 3 of 4 of the meats. The pate was okay.

Near the end of our experience it was discovered there was a partially alive....nearly dead... cockroach on the floor' which was probably my least favorite part of...

Staff were rude on arrival and throughout. Napkins were strewn on the table with drinks put down heavily so they spilled. We told the first waiter we would like to have both food and drink but were left sat at the table until another waiter asked what drinks we would like. The delay would be understandable if it was busy at the time but it was half empty, and customers who arrived after us were getting served despite us sitting with our menus closed.

Considering the restaurant is located in an area with an array of hotels, it was clear tourists were not given the service the locals were, as we observed. Draws and cupboards being slammed by obnoxious staff made for a very uncomfortable atmosphere. We went with the intention of buying a large meal for our last night in Paris but left after our first drinks. We found an excellent meal with fantastic service easily elsewhere with the vast number of eateries...

If I could award zero stars it would more honest. We went here twice as it was near out hotel. The first time we ordered drinks, JD & coke & wine. The waitress told us to take seat. 20 minutes later we left as no drinks arrived. The second time we went I ordered a coffee. Great! It arrived. When I asked the waitress for another she said yes then went around the corner for a cigarette! When she came back she confirmed my order then went inside. She didn’t come back, but while were sitting there a really rude rotund waiter came out and shouted at us. We decided to leave so I went inside to pay for the 1 coffee. As I was paying the same waiter then deliberately walked into me and shouted at me and then shoved me out of the way. I said to man I was paying that I would’ve stayed to eat but your staff are really rude. He looked puzzled. Don’t go here, they...
