Great wine and champagne BUT the owner (or who he said he was) is exceptionally great at racial profiling. I went there thrice and I was only given entry/seating at the bar once. The first time this happened, it was a busy night but there were open seats at the bar and a table, we were two brown/ asian women and we asked for seating. We were refused by a man who claimed that he was the owner, there was a waiter who came after him and said we could have a table in the interim but he just waved him and us away and said that everything was booked, even the bar and advised me to book. Which was strange, considering last time we were seated at the bar when we walked in without reservation during the end of the night but this man who waved us away was not present. Second time around, knowing I will be going here, I called early to atleast book seats at the bar since he said last time that everything can be reserved early. But the person who handled my call told me that reservations have been made already but I can walk in because the bar is not reservable and if there are empty tables then that’s an option too. Trusting this advice, we made our way there, it was not as busy as the last time (this time too, we were 2 women of color and Asian heritage) here again we were refused entry when I pointed out the empty seats at the bar the same man as last time dismissed us and said it’s all reserved. There were even free tables but he said it’s all reserved and it won’t be possible. This made me realise that the only time I was given entry to their wine bar was only during closing time, with very less customers, not during the prime dining time (even if we called ahead or showed up early) . We feel mishandled and gatekeeped by this team and location of Compagnie, which is honestly very disheartening as this is my local...
Read moreLoved this place! A friend of mine recommended it so I gave it a shot while in Paris. From the outside, it’s not a place that attracts, but once inside, I fell for the ambiance and atmosphere. Very casual and homey. It has very nice couches and tables, very casual, and the personnel really makes you feel at ease. They helped us picked from a list of wine that was just incredible. I picked a nice white wine from the South, and my friend picked à Bordeaux. Not disappointed at all…the waiter even let us taste it to ensure we liked it. And of course, we had to have the tapas. We opted for the croque monsieur, cheese and artichoke dip. Everything was amazing! If you’re in Paris and want a casual night out without the craziness of champs élysés, I would highly...
Read moreThe staff is very friendly and the crowd looks nice, aged 30-50, but I have some cons for this place. First of all holy expensive! Glasses of wines of less than impressive labels priced 10 Eur +, bottles (these ones better) on 35+. Main room a bit dark if you are sitting away from the main facade. Uninspiring entrance, without a sign indicating the name of the place. Snacks looked nice but I cannot judge as I didn't have any, although the truffle roasted ham (?) smell was a bit overwhelming. Perhaps the overall "meh" experience was more due to the fact we were just looking for a quick glass rather than...
