La Criée Montparnasse — Restaurant in Paris

Absolutely arrogant management. It was 13:44 when we entered this seafood bar to have a dozen of oysters with champagne. First the waitress went to ask manager (a lady with short haircut wearing glasses) whether she may offer us a table and a menu. The lady manager (sweeping her midday lunch behind the cash desk) asked the waitress: “do they speak French?... English?!” Once she heard “they speak English”, she told the waitress “tell them we are closed”. I didn’t give up and asked the waitress to serve us just oysters and we’ll leave within 10 minutes even before their afternoon brake begins (meanwhile they have it starting from 14:00 till 19:00 and while we were arguing there still were guests in the restaurant receiving their dishes). At that moment lady manager stopped eating her lunch, stood up, came outta corner and started pointing us to the door speaking smth in style “kitchen no work after 2 PM”. This miserable dialogue continued until 13:59 when we took taxi to La Criee Fish & Fish where despite same opening hours and afternoon brake we got a plate of oysters, shrimps with baguette and mayo and perfectly chilled glass of champagne and what was of far bigger importance – the warmest welcome of probably all we had during our 2 day...

I wonder what happened to this restaurant where I have come for dinner several times in the past. The quality of the dishes is degraded. We ordered oysters Fine de Claire No3, and they came out looking so small like No4. The bulots were tiny. The Moule Marinière with minuscule mussels was over cooked. The side dish as basic as French fries was stale. It’s too embarrassing to even take pictures of them. That night the restaurant was full but there were only two waitresses, and understandably it was impossible for them to keep up so we skipped...

Went there for our late Valentine's date with my husband and we're a bit disappointed of the food that we ordered. The toasted bread is not really toasted because it's as if it was toasted for a couple of days already. The main plat that I ordered was obvious that it was a frozen calamar and it was too salty.
