The planet Drawing — Local services in Paris

I’ve visited many comics shops in Paris over the years, and they’ve all been pretty good to be fair. La Planète Dessin is a new shop to me, and so I was eager to check it out on a recent visit to Paris. I knew that it would be at least good as it’s part of the Canal BD chain of affiliated stores, but I was blown away by just how excellent it was. Not only is there a simply phenomenal selection of BD, manga and comics but there’s an excellent range of books and magazines about comics too (a particular interest of mine within the wider comics world). The owners and staff are lovely people and more than happy to point you in the direction of comics that would interest you, and talk about their particular favourites (we had a lovely chat about Pascal Jousselin’s fabulous Imbattable series, the work of Marc-Antoine Mathieu and the series l’Atelier Mastodonte).

Le vendeur, aujourd’hui vers 16 h, n’était pas du tout agréable. J’ai dû faire un aller-retour chez moi. J’étais venu récupérer mes livres réservés sur Pass Culture, au total huit. Après qu’il ait su que j’en avais huit, il demande si j’ai ma carte d’identité. Moi, je lui dis que je l’ai en photo. Il me dit non, il la faut en physique. Je lui propose alors mon passe Navigo, mais il refuse aussi et trouve une excuse en disant qu’il y a trop d’abus, etc., pour que je quitte le magasin. Tout le monde sait que pour créer la carte Navigo, il faut prouver son identité 🪪.

Je suis donc reparti chez moi pour prendre ma carte d’identité et revenu vers 18 h, et là, il y avait le patron. Il était vraiment sympa, m’a donné des marque-pages et a emballé mes livres 📚. Par le vendeur, et là comme par hasard, on ne demande pas ma carte d’identité 🪪. Tout ça pour ne pas travailler. Je suis allé ce jour-là et même d’autres fois dans plein d’autres librairies. Je leur montrerai la photo, ou le passe Navigo, et il n’y avait pas de soucis, sauf dans ce magasin où le vendeur a insisté pour avoir la carte physique.

Il existe une application, France Identité, mise en place par le gouvernement français, qui sert à montrer la pièce d’identité dématérialisée en cas de contrôle. Même pendant le confinement, les automobilistes n’avaient pas ce genre de problème quand ils montraient leur carte dématérialisée aux fonctionnaires. An amazing selection, with very kind and helpful staff as well. Picked up an old favourite and a big new book as recommended by one of the people working there.
