La Fontaine de Jade — Restaurant in Paris

I recently had the misfortune of dining at this so-called “Chinese restaurant,” and it was an experience I wouldn’t wish on anyone. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that hygiene was not a priority. Sticky floors and tables, and a faint, unpleasant smell lingered in the air.

The food itself was an insult to Chinese cuisine. Dishes arrived lukewarm, drenched in oil, and lacked any distinct flavor. It was as if they were reheated leftovers thrown together in haste. The presentation was sloppy, and some dishes even had questionable textures and odors that made me wonder about their freshness.

The service was equally appalling and the staff cannot speak English at all. The service is lousy in Paris at all.

Overall, the entire experience was chaotic, unsanitary, and downright unpleasant. If you’re looking for authentic and enjoyable Chinese cuisine, do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. It felt more like surviving an ordeal than...

Exactly what a bistro should be - do a few things, but do them right. Everything we had - Lobster Bisque, Duck Liver Pate (a kind of liver not yet outlawed in California), Lamb Chops, Pork Medaillons, and Roasted Duck - were excellent. All of these are simple dishes; but it is a simple ones which are most difficult, since you cannot cover up mistakes by clever presentation or heavy sauce. I did have a small disagreement with Jean-Michel about which books should be on display - I tried to convince him to add "Asterix" to otherwise distinguished company of La Fontaine fables, and he even made a verbal agreement to do so (we did not shake on it, or took a blood oath, so I can't blame him if he does not). First time we went to this place it was closed. We thought (coz it says online) they open 530pm but that day they said 630pm. We ended up going back the next day and it was worth it! Food was really good and says im from clt theres nothing like this back there. Atlanta yes, clt no. Good and friendly service and price was not bad at all. We didn't have reservations but we went right when it opened lol. Big place, more room in the back. It was emtpy when we got there after 10mins it was packed.
