I don't know where to start! Ate dinner here early (around 5:30pm) for our last night in Paris on a whim as it was close to our hotel and we're exhausted after a week here. Decided to be absolutely indulgent Americans and ordered SO much food and even worse, ate every bite. Stuffed it down so bad we laughed the entire walk back saying how fat we were. Let's get to the details! Judith greeted us and in my botched French, I told her my French wasn't good. Lucky for us, she spoke incredible English. She was super attentive, friendly and told us about the specials. I will start by saying I LOVE FRENCH FOOD. It's hands down my favorite cuisine. We ended up ordering (as I hang my head in shame) the duck terrine, 12 escargot and a bottle of rose. The escargot had so much parsley butter to soak up with the delicious toasty bread sticks and regular bread. Both were delicious especially the dressing on the bed of lettuce that came with the terrine. For the plat (main entrée in the US) my husband ordered the lamb shank and I had the veal stew (blancette de veau). The lamb is roasted for something like 8 hours and the stew is prepeared in a cast iron crock with a cream base. Both were probably the best meals we've ever had out. The lamb came right off the bone and was juicy and flavorful. The veal in the stew fell apart and the creamy saucy base was top tier. You always see the veal stew as veal organ meat in a red wine base but this was creamy and delicious. This dinner was probably the best we've ever had and we've been to a lot of places. People spend so much time going to top name places that cost a small fortune and I thought the prices were reasonable fo this quality of food. I never eat at places twice in Paris because with something like 3k restaurants, why would you, but this place I'd definitely return to and if you happen to get Judith as your server, you are in great hands. Thank you for an unforgettable meal for our 25th anniversary trip in Paris! -Dave &...

I have eaten here several times, always with friends. It is close to the hotel and for the Americans who regularly stay there, I highly recommend La Maison.

Food. Excellent French food. Our table ordered escargot, a meat and cheese plate, lamb cops, salmon, chicken Normandy and lemon meringue pie. All well prepared, presented and excellent taste. We are beer drinkers, so no wine comments.

Service. Prompt. Friendly. We had a competent speaker, but our waiter spoke very good English, which was appreciated. He was authentically friendly and helpful.

Environment. This is a cloth tablecloth/napkin environment. We dined inside (too cold and windy for out front). Cozy environment and a great place for friends to dine and chat.

Summary 4 stars. Great neighborhood restaurant. From an American view, excellent French food with English speaking staff and typical European prices.

For those who do not know me from my other reviews: I am not prone to hyperbole or drama. Eateries are judged by food, service and environment; in that order and in context with expectations. I like picking new places that have been panned badly by "local" guides to see why the fuss. If it is a place I go to regularly, I...

Paris is such an easy town to find great food in but sometimes the service can be troublesome. This Cafe Bistro was all the good and none of the bad.

Even though its nestled in a neighborhood with homes, hotels, Air BnBs and other local overnights it was easy to get a table for 6. However always call ahead, great places like this fill-up.

The host guided us to a warm table near the bar, at our request. It was a cold evening and he offered us a hot drink straight away. So we enjoyed that a hot aperitif and our night was off to a great start. Again, great hospitality.

Smoking was not allowed and not an issue as none of us smoke. even though its the law some restaurant and bar owners let this one slide, not here.

Our waiter made several suggestions, I like red meat dishes, my wife fish, and kids wanted pasta. He also offered suggestions on pairing with wine that we could enjoy. The food came quickly but at an appropriate rate that ensured it was made to order. He, the waiter, checked up on us to ensure we were taken care of.

This restaurant, the staff, the neighborhood and everything surrounding our 2-hour visit was great. In my list of...
