Talking about tourist traps....this place is one of them.....at least this is how we felt being treated. We selected this place for a lunch, half way visiting the ART Paris fair which was located at just a stone throw We got a nice seat in the front on the covered terrace We ordered a steak tartare and a salad with fresh tuna as well as 50cc house wine (rose), a tarte tatin to share and one black coffee and one cappuccino. Service was reasonably friendly but a bit chaotic The rose wine was served in a carafe which looked good to us however the salad with fresh tuna looked weird ( just some slices of fresh tuna and some white steamed rice and a tangy sauce) however we thought it to be a new way of presentation. Food taste was good At the end of the meal we mentioned to the waiter that the tuna salad was a bit weird in terms of presentation and it was then when we were told it wasn't a salad we received but a tuna tataki, not something we ordered. When the bill was presented we also noted that we were served 50cc Minuty Rose from the Provence at a cost of Euro 27,50 and when we questioned that we were told the restaurant didn't serve house wines and that this was the only rose from the Provence....also something we never asked for (but yes we do live in the Provence !). The bill also included 2 cafe which we never ordered. In the end the manager decided to give us a small discount of Euro 9 and offered us two glasses of rose.....fine.....but the damage was already done Not a place where we will return and not recommended by us to those after a...
Read moreI literally just left there 20 minutes ago and couldn't wait to post a review. Wife and I stopped there for a late night cocktail and desert. We ordered a Rose', a Belvedere on the rocks along with strawberries, raspberry's and whipped cream. Simple enough. The Belvedere was barely a shot. The desert was satisfactory and the Rose'...well...it's Rose'
The servers were satisfactory, however the manager was simply rude and obnoxious. This gentleman spent 10 minutes on two separate occasions five minutes apart chatting up with friends at the table right next to ours.
I desperately wanted to order another drink (wine this time) and every time the manager and I made eye contact, he went back to his conversation. Finally, I said to my wife, "there is no way I am going to give them another dime, let's get the check". After waiting another 3 minutes and not interrupt the managers conversation, my wife finally cut in and politely asked for the check. The manager simply said "Yes", said something in French to his friends in which they all chuckled and went back to his conversation for another 2 minutes.
Rude is rude. One can tell when another simply ignores intentionally and the attitude was certainly thick.
My recommendation and intent is for anyone reading this review (especially foreigners to France) is to avoid this place. There are a ton of other lovely places and establishments in Paris that...
Read moreVisited this place while traveling for a month in Paris. We were not greeted well by the waiter. He said we were blocking other tables. We were not blocking anyone. When we politely requested a better table he yelled to the manager (in a rude manner) for the entire dining room to hear, that "we didn't like our table". His mannerism was extremely loud, rude and embarrassing.
The manager denied us a decent table even though there were numerous empty unreserved tables for 3 or 4 people available. We were told we could not be seated at them, that they were for larger groups. Groups of two is better than groups of nobody.
Being embarrassed and publicly humiliated we decided to leave. Really really bad way to treat customers, particularly an older retired couple.
I suspect that they preferred to keep the tables open for younger groups drinking more alcohol than us. We would have been there and gone in under an hour and we definitely deserved to be treated better.
Management should really teach their staff that screaming such things across a dining room is unacceptable. Basic...
