Good food & service, but it's a scene and you're paying for it!

Langosteria is corporate owned & operated - and I don't mean that in a negative way - with locations in Italy, London and Miami. It's a large, well-appointed contemporary restaurant with ample space for large dining parties. It's main draw is being located on top of the luxury hotel Cheval Blanc, with its wrap-around outdoor terrace. If the weather is nice, you can enjoy a meal or drink out there complete with a view of the Seine and the Eiffel Tower in the distance. Mind you, you can see the Tower, but you'll be zooming in 2X, 3X or more with your phones!

Overall the food is very good as well as the service. Langosteria is good enough to be recognized by the Michelin guide, but has not earned any distinctions as of April 2024. The menu is a nice break from French food, if that's what you're looking for. We had a lovely cocktail to start, the Arezzo 75 which was a play on the French 75, with a delightful grapefruit foam. Our drinks were accompanied with a tasty amuse bouche. For our starters, we selected the red tuna carpaccio with eggplant and the seafood tempura. We decided upon the Paccheri with Sea Bass, capers, olives and Amalfi lemon zest - which is grated tableside like Parmesan cheese! We added the scarola strozzata as a side and paired the whole thing with a bottle of Sancerre. Our meal was concluded with a Torta Nonna Rosa, a glass of Jefferson Amaro and a 12-year Calvados. Additional soft drinks included 2 bottles of Aqua Panna and an espresso. The cost of dining here was 504 Euros BEFORE tip!!

You won't find any prices online (because they can fluctuate quickly) but everything was expensive. They have an 81-page wine menu, mostly Italian, but bottles from all over the world. Like all pretentious places, you will find bottles well into 4 and 5 digits. WHO is ordering the 1933 Sauternes for 18,000 Euros??!!! I understand seafood can be expensive, but this place is just ridiculous! And of course, it wouldn't be complete without the gratuitous caviar service!

By comparison, we dined at a 1-Star Michelin restaurant, complete with upgraded wine pairing for two, for only 40 Euros more. The food & service at Langosteria are very good, but not 500 Euros good. Everything was fresh & tasty and the entire staff was warm, friendly and attentive. But, you're really paying for the location and view, which in my opinion, isn't worth the elevated prices. We noticed lots of young people (20s-30s) who seemed like the Influencer type - some probably had a OF page ;-) Those who were more interested in getting those selfies out on the terrace than their dinner. I believe this restaurant is aimed at the clientele of the hotel, which can run over 2,700 Euros for a weekend in June. This place is for those who want to impress their dining companions because it's expensive. So, come here if you want to seem impressive, but go somewhere else if you want a better value for...

We went for a sunday family lunch for my birthday and we were very disappointed. The service is lower than an average brasserie. You basically have to have no high standard expectations there. The team at the entry is very busy, slow and stressed out. They are mainly unable to help you or will take ages for very simple requests. At the table they had no idea we had booked for the full 7 courses menu which was clearly stated at reservation also as it included 3 gift vouchers for that specific menu and we were 6 people but they gave us the regular menu that was very strange we had to insist it was not what we booked for and then they realized the mistake.. already not palace vibe at all. Then we had to wait maybe 20mn to get a bottle of water we ordered and still no aperitif order taken in the meantime. And honestly we were almost the first ones in the restaurant so it was very quiet at that time! We had no bread during half of our lunch I had to request it twice to get some while they were serving a 7 course menu full of sauces, olive oil etc. They were not really explaining what they were serving us and the food was of very very basic it was great quality product but too simple like cooked fish with mash potatoes and no taste veggies.. most of the menu was fish tempura, some regular scallops, a basic tiramisu dessert really nothing spectacular nothing fancy and even tasting less than average no spice kick no citrus kick not a lovely tomato taste not a crazy pasta, nothing really basic neutral tastes. The service was very familiar nice but not at a palace expected level at all very brasserie style. It was my birthday & my aunt had mentioned it discreetly to the team when we arrived so they could put a little birthday candle at dessert but dessert came with nothing.. so she had to go back to the team and ask for it again while trying to keep it a surprise.. We were extremely disappointed given the price of that 7 courses menu it was not worth it at all. The Tout Paris next door is the complete opposite a gem for your palate with an amazing service at a very very decent price! I would only recommend to have a cocktail at langosteria before or after dining at the Tout Paris because their cocktails are very good, they have a nice lounge vibe and the view is amazing! But do not go for the food nor the service there is nothing...

If you find this review helpful in any way, give it a Like. Thank you :-)

Restaurant experience & taste worth every penny. This is not a cheap restaurant by any mean - it is located in Cheval Blanc Paris after all. But the atmosphere, the views, the staff (with the exception of one) & the food made it all worth it. Make your dinner reservation around 8 and settle in for a few hours of dinner and drinks & be sure to request a table with a view overlooking the bridge & the Eiffel Tower in the distance. You can then witness the magical sun going down over Paris & the Eiffel lighting up at 9 PM. Be warned there will be diners getting up/down to go out to the terrace to see the views & take pics. This is the first location in France outside of Italy. In addition to the classics from the original restaurant, they created some specific dishes for this particular location. My friend & I opted for some of the classics & some from the local creations. All the food was exceptional with the outstanding dishes, no surprise, being around the seafood. The mussels sampler was super fresh & we ended up ordering a second round. The pasta dishes were superb without being repetitive or drowned in sauce. We're no wine expert, so, we went with a recommended pairing and it was great. We intended to try all the courses but we were so stuffed we had to skip dessert. Which is fine as it gives us a reason to come back again. The staff was very attentive & professional with the exception of one. I think he was just inexperienced and may be had a language barrier - he was overly attentive, kept asking us to order drinks which came across like he was pushing drinks and had me on the edge a bit & he wasn't able to answer questions about the dishes. He was later replaced by more seasoned staff which made the experience much more relaxing...
