Le Départ Saint-Lazare — Restaurant in Paris

Normally, I would not give a bad review but I really feel like I have to. We visited this café twice. The first visit was pleasant (29/03/2023, lunch). The waiter was friendly and the food runner was very nice, too, the food was good (avocado toast, croque monsieur, coffees). However, the second visit was horrible (31/03/2023, lunch) and this was mainly because of the staff on this day. Firstly, the manager (?) in charge, a young man in a puffer jacket (blond) was extremely rude from the start, thinking we did not speak French and shouting to the other members of staff (les Americans; I am French-German, and my partner Italian btw). His way of talking was very uneducated, too. Secondly, the crepes came cold and we could have done better by eating a prepared one from carrefour. Honestly, I felt like the other members of staff felt uncomfortable around him, too. At one point the chef was walking by and he basically made a very stupid comment toward him. I saw that he was quite annoyed by him but simply ignored him. Again, I think it depends who is working there but I'd not recommend it to anyone or wouldn't go back there if this guy was...

Over 20 trips to Paris, and I stumbled into this spot purely for convenience. Craving something simple, I ordered the cheeseburger—and wow, it was hands-down the best burger and homemade fries I’ve ever had abroad. It was so good I didn’t even take a picture per my regular review. The waiter, Pratit, was a standout: polite, attentive, and genuinely warm, elevating the experience. Great music set the perfect vibe as we savored our meal. I’m already looking forward to my next visit....

Je donne toujours mon avis sur de bonnes voire excellentes expériences. Eh bien là c’est une première! Obligée de mettre une étoile pour poster l’avis. Venue avec une amie qui reprenait son train, on est allées au plus près. Bien mauvaise idée : déjeuner tardif pour moi, un fish & chips insipide et bien trop cher pour ce que c’était. J’ai demandé du citron, mais il n’y en avait plus… (Ps: j’ai dû « déranger »-demander au serveur de passer un coup sur la table car pleine de miettes de viennoiseries) mauvaise idée de descendre aux toilettes, escalier et sanitaires dégueulasses! Beaucoup de clients partagent cet avis sur la saleté et le manque d’hygiène qui restent donc sans effet, car la crasse ne date pas d’hier. et le pompon au moment de l’addition, j’ai d’abord cru à une blague du responsable de salle en caisse. Au demeurant très sympa je tiens à le signaler ça détonnait. On nous annonce 7 cafés au lieu de 4! A ma surprise, il vérifie et appelle un nouveau serveur, ce denier est honnête et dit clairement qu’il ne nous a rien servi. Le notre au bar, fait mine de ne pas comprendre et affirme nous avoir servi 7 cafés! No mais seriously?! Si je n’avais pas vérifié et insisté j’aurai été arnaquée, comme une touriste.
