La Cour de Rome — Restaurant in Paris

My partner & I (Australian tourists, first time in France), stopped for cappuccinos at this cafe, we sat outside to enjoy the ambiance. Our coffees cost a total of 14 euros, my husband paid with a 20 euro note. The waiter gave him too much change, at least 12 euros (a 10 euro note and coins). My partner & I went into the cafe to tell the waiter he had given us too much change. He did not understand us at all and kept insisting that we pay for our coffees. We kept telling him we had already paid and he kept telling us we hadn’t. Unfortunately my partner was not given a receipt when he paid cash. In the end we gave up and my husband gave him another 14 euros. We were just trying to do the right thing and now feel like we’ve been ripped off, or worse, scammed. Either the guy cannot do simple maths or he is scamming customers. Not impressed. ADDITIONAL COMMENT TO THE OWNER/MANAGER: Thank you for your reply and we appreciate your kind offer but we are now back in Australia having completed our travels to Europe. I hope you identified the staff member responsible and informed him of the situation that occurred. We had no trouble communicating with French staff anywhere in Paris, despite our very limited French, but your staff member either could not understand us at all, or he chose not to understand. How he could take our payment, then insist minutes later that we had not paid, I will...

Went in for dinner with my wife and child before going to the theatre. Nice bar, nice atmosphere. We ordered some cocktails and food order directly as we wanted to be early at the theatre. Drinks arrived promptly but we were waiting 15 mins for food and I could see that nobody else was eating. The server then came to apologise and say the chef didn't hear his order/ticket machine and it will be 5 mins. ( Veggie pasta, burger and a steak). We waited about 40 mins. My daughter was happy with the burger, the pasta came with what I believe to be pre bought, frozen vegetables and my steak was ok but the peppercorn sauce was very thin and lacking flavour. And the garnish was a leaf of parsley and what I can guess is a sliver of tomato, like it had fallen on the plate. Homemade fries were good though!

A disappointing dinner but the place had a nice atmosphere...

Very unfriendly owner and staff except one young waiter. They made us wait for at least 15 minutes while they didn't even have clients. Only that young waiter was busy, it's exactly him who served us eventually. Two other men, I guess one was the owner and another men around his age (over 55) smoked twice on the terrace of their café and one of them went to check his car while another one just talked to someone while we were waiting to be served. They are not even able to smile there, except that one young waiter....
