During a recent visit to the iconic city of Paris, I had the pleasure of dining at Restaurant Le Général, an elegant cafe conveniently located just a stone's throw from the splendid Arc de Triomphe. This establishment, known for its charming terrace, is a popular spot for indulging in morning croissants and enjoying late suppers, providing a delightful experience reminiscent of the city's vibrant café culture.
From the moment we arrived at Le Général, we were greeted with impeccable service that set the tone for our dining experience. The staff were attentive yet unobtrusive, ensuring that our needs were met without interruption. This level of hospitality greatly enhanced our enjoyment of the meal.
Now, let us turn our attention to the food—an absolute highlight of the evening. I started with a serving of oysters, which were nothing short of exquisite. They were fresh, tender, and served with a perfect accompaniment of shallot vinegar, making for a delightful introduction to our culinary journey. Following this, I opted for the duck, which was divine; tender meat with a rich, flavourful sauce that left a lasting impression.
My companion chose the chicken, a dish that was equally stunning in both presentation and taste. We were equally impressed by the escargot, beautifully prepared and rich in flavour, embodying the essence of French cuisine. Each dish was well thought out, showcasing the chef's skill and dedication to quality.
Overall, dining at Le Général was a memorable experience that combined excellent service with impeccably good food. As we concluded our meal, we couldn’t help but feel that this elegant café not only lives up to its stellar reputation but also provides a perfect backdrop for an authentic Parisian dining experience. I look forward to returning to this hidden gem on my next visit to the...
Read moreEdited upon request/ response from the owner to remove a picture of the waiter who attended to us:
We ordered the fresh tagliatelle truffle cream pasta and the French toast brioche. Unfortunately, the pasta had absolutely no salt. When we mentioned this to the waiter, he was extremely rude and said, “You should ask if you want salt in the food,” before handing us rock salt. We had to specifically request regular salt just to be able to EAT our meal.
I’m not sure if this is standard behavior for him or if he was being discriminatory because we weren’t French, but the experience left a bad taste. Our mood was completely ruined, and we ended up being disappointed with the dessert as well. To top it off, we asked for a glass of water which never arrived, which we had to request again and came super late
Overall, a very disappointing experience. The waiter should choose a different profession, he’s not the right fit and would just end up ruining the restaurant experience...
Read moreI was at this restaurant with my brother for the first time this september all the way from Norway. We got a very warm welcome from the nicest waiter and very good service overall in this restaurant. The waiter recommended a menu with beef, salad and french fries. After the meal we got a chocolate mousse which is included in the menu. and all of this was 15 euro per person, this is worth every euro. It is not very expensive and you will eat at a quality restaurant. with a beautiful view. it is close to arc de triumphe. We tried some other restaurants after this one but none of them was as good for the prices they had. We got back to this restaurant again for dinner and even for breakfast. this restaurant really gives you parisian vibes and positive vibes of paris. They really do care about their customers and i would not go anywhere else in paris than this restaurant. We didnt even wait that long for the food everything was on time...
