A truly beautiful experience from start to finish. From the moment you step through the entrance and into the lobby, everything feels impeccably maintained, elegant, and effortlessly refined. Afternoon tea in the L’Orangerie conservatory, overlooking the hotel’s iconic courtyard, remains one of the most charming and serene experiences in Paris.
Service was professional, organized, and well-timed — the kind of precision that defines the George V. The drinks selection included in the tea service was excellent, and the tea itself was wonderful. The savory dishes at the start could perhaps have been a little more memorable and generous, but they were still enjoyable. The cakes and desserts, however, were a real highlight — creative, beautifully presented, and described in a friendly, unfussy way by the very kind female member of staff who looked after us throughout. A small note: some additional cutlery for the larger cakes would have been helpful, but it didn’t detract from the experience.
The decor, plates, and overall atmosphere are stunning — classic Parisian luxury at its finest. I left feeling full, content, and genuinely pleased with the experience.
If there’s one observation, it’s that service at the George V, while flawless, can occasionally feel a touch robotic or overly formal — but that’s very much the character of the hotel: precise, polished, and professional. Despite that slightly colder tone, it remains one of the most consistently impressive and complete hotels in Paris. Booking in advance is absolutely essential — it fills up quickly.
I pass along Avenue Montaigne every time I visit Paris, and I almost always stop here for lunch, dinner, or tea. Between the courtyard, the service, and those famous flowers in the lobby, it’s hard not to feel that it’s worth every bit of its reputation (and price). In my view, still well ahead of the...
Read moreOnly the volumes and the decoration of the place worth a visit to this restaurant. To be honest we chose this one among all the others in this palace because they accept dogs... and they treated ours very nicely. I always prefer stared restaurants to others if I can... Not possible in this hotel, officially. Nevertheless I had a good surprise especially dealing with the services and, again, the beauty of the place, even the toilets are really nice. The menu is pretty straight forward and I appreciated the advices from the waiters, but of course it is not a stared menu. Same for the wine card, no headache. If you have questions and people don't know the answers they will come back to you later with sharp answers instead of improvising smoking responses. The Baba au rhum is served in a very nice plate that allows Rhum to be served generously. The digestive menu is really nice as well as the aperitif one. I also really appreciated to smoke a cigar after our lunch in the internal 'garden'. On the negative side, and that's why I did not give 5 stars, the payment process was a bit too fast and rough, paying at the desk before going to the garden for a smoke is something I did not appreciate, as if suddenly there was a rush for something. We should come again there for a goûter, and it seems we should bring a carpet for our dog... A bit weird as it was ok for this lunch... So still some room for improvement, let's see. Again a really nice place thanks to really nice people at our service...
Read more5 star service, but I have to give 2 stars for the food. We went for afternoon tea after seeing so many lovely pictures online from previous years. What we got was definitely not what we saw. At $75 per person, I was initially disappointed in the tea itself - not strong or hot enough. They brought food one at a time rather than in the typical tiers you see at high teas. I can only describe the food as odd and overly creative (and not in a good way). We didn't eat half of it. There was a tapioca ball croquet, duck liver lollipop, a tiny ball of sorbet soaked in tomato water, a bite sized lobster roll, and an assortment of pastries with odd flavors. The standout was the fig tart, but the buckwheat mousse was a low point. I was so excited for this tea and nearly cried at how disappointed I was. The manager saw we hadn't eaten much and asked our opinion. I kindly told him it just wasn't what I was expecting and I showed him the pictures from online. He sent us home with complimentary macarons and pound cake which I thought was lovely and so thoughtful. Final thoughts...the setting is beautiful and an experience in and of itself, but don't expect a traditional...
