Must-Try Steakhouse in Paris - Le Relais de l'Entrecôte
The BeastThe Beast
Relais de l’Entrecôte: A Victim of Its Own Success Arriving at the much-hyped Relais de l’Entrecôte, our experience began with an expected but still long 45-minute wait, setting a tone that felt more like a high-volume operation than a refined dining experience. Once seated, it was clear the restaurant had over-crammed the space. Tiny, dainty tables created an impractical and uncomfortable arrangement. Getting to the couch required moving the entire table, and we were literally bumping elbows with our neighbors, a sign that profit was clearly prioritized over the customer's comfort. The food, the sole reason for the restaurant’s existence, was a significant letdown. For a place that specializes in just one dish, the quality was surprisingly mediocre, and I'd generously rate it a 3/10. I even overheard other customers mentioning that the portion sizes were about 60% smaller than they were a year ago, which further reinforced the feeling that the restaurant's focus had shifted from quality to quantity of customers. The most egregious part of the evening was the service from our server, Isa D. Her demeanor was unprofessional and bordering on rude. She was impatient, rushed, and never smiled (how naive of me to expect it, right). She didn't explain menu items, communicating only with curt pointing and gestures. She never checked in on us. When the bill payment transaction was complete, she impolitely tossed the credit card back on the table, a clear sign she wanted us gone to free up the table for the next customer. Overall, the experience is a clear example of a restaurant becoming a victim of its own success. The apparent focus on profit has eroded the quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the service, all the things that made it special in the first place. I would not visit again, and I suggest you don't either, as the Instagram picture is simply not worth the reality.

They open at 18:45 in the evening. We arrived at 18:05 and there was already a long queue. At 18:45 they let people in and we didn’t make the first round. So we had to wait outside for another ~40 minutes. No reservations could be made. The food was good. The steak was lean (not fatty) and you could choose how you wanted it cooked (raw, medium or well-done). It was cooked properly. The secret sauce was definitely good! It was a bit creamy and a bit sour. The walnut salad was not really nice. The bread was dry and flavourless. The fries were very good. Skinny fries and very crunchy. The seating was so cramped. We were basically sitting at the same table with another pair because the tables were so close to each other. Every time a waitress walked past, I had to lean to the side for her to get past me. The serving was very fast paced, and you could see the waitresses get one huge plate full of meat on a table, where they divided them on several plates, together with fries, to serve to the guests. The staff was friendly, but we felt very rushed. You get the salad, bread, and they immediately serve the meat + fries. The refill also comes very fast. The dessert was separate. The caramel creme brûlée was too sweet for our liking. The other dessert with chocolate sauce was ok, but maybe a bit too rich. Then they immediately serve you with the bill, without asking for it. Was it good? Yes. Was it worth the 1.5 hour wait? No. Definitely did not live up to the hype. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It was not worth it.

I was on the fence to try l’entrecote in Saint Germaine but my cousin recommended we have a meal there and I influenced by influencers 🤣. We waited for 55 minutes and were seated on the path which was absolutely fine .. waitress was very nice and immediately asked for our drink order and how we wanted our steak cooked.

In short: Walnut Salad: looked sad .. a bit limp and the mustard dressing was not that good .. no love on that plate 😂 .. lettus slapped on the plate with mustard dressing and walnuts. I did not finish it The steak frittes: as another reviewer said, it’s probably your portion of steak cut into two and served twice with frittes … although the steak was very soft and delicious enough .. but in terms of portion size, it’s not that big. Enough for me as I’m petite but for my hubby, I think it’s a bit small, especially for the price so I actually gave him a portion of my second serve as I had enough as I do many frittes the sauce: very delicious, especially with the frittes service: the waitress was attentive and very nice Atmosphere: bustling which I love Desert: we did not order any desert So why did I only give it 3 stars overall? I actually did not think it was worth it for a single main meal item with a very average salad. .. I’m sure all the local French people are laughing at all of tourists 🤪 … we went to another bistro another day called B##ll#tt# (4 minute walk from l’entrecote) which served french dishes at €39 for three courses for lunch and I can say, the dishes were all amazing, delicious and presented on the plate to perfection. It’s also mentioned in the Michelin Guide ..

Now that I’ve tried, I would not waste my time again at this one main dish restaurant but it does have great sauce! Check out B##ll#tt#! Another clue to the name of this bistro is that the chef’s initials are SA and he...

Fast Food Steak - Social Media Hype has generated that this is a must do in Paris - and with the success of this there is no need for the food to be good, or the service or the ambience. They have enough tourists visiting Paris each year to churn through that they don't need this to be anything other than the social media generating tourist trap that it truly is.

We waited in line (which we were anticipating) for 50 minutes. When seated we were fed and back out of the restaurant in 25 minutes later (yes the service was fast - but not in a good way) they did not wait for you to eat what was on your plate before adding your second serving. I was not asked if I'd like a drink - I was in the bathroom when the others in my party order and the waitress never bothered to revisit this with me. Salad was overdressed and soggy - just mixed leaves and four small pieces of walnut. Steak likely a 4 oz serving served in slices over two portions with half a plate of fries that were not seasoned. Signature sauce and Steak also required seasoning. Each plating had three slices of the steak. The plates were small. We did not stay for desert as did not feel inclined to want to be rushed through it nor give them any more of our money for such a shoddy experience Only served bottle water at a charge. All around you are the waitresses speedily passing with the trays of fries and steak.....that are actually stacked on top of each other too - the bottom of the fries tray was sat on top of the steak which was subsequently served.

Honestly eat elsewhere for the 30 something Euros it costs for your food go get a three course meal elsewhere with some ambience and attention...
