Hunting for wine tastings, we stumbled upon Le Comptoir et Les Caves Legrand. It's nestled in an 1823 covered mall called Galerie Vivienne. Don't think Mall of America, think Great Gatsby meets the Boston Public Library. You won't be able to stop yourself from taking photos (OK, selfies too) of this architectural gem.

I went for the risotto pesto as I'm always on the hunt for vegetables of any variety while in France. Understated, refined, and elegant, this dish filled my veins and pores in the most satiating way. My husband's dish was equally fulfilling.

We were shocked: How did so few people know about this place?

Not only is the food a delight, the ambiance and peace of Galerie Vivienne is unrivaled. You won't sit bumper to bumper with other tables and begrudgingly bask in free second-hand smoke all meal long.

We purchased a bottle of red wine for €40 after consulting with the seller. The wine was described as particularly characteristic of its grape variety and intense in flavor. However, hours later, upon opening the bottle, it tasted extremely sour—unusual for that grape variety. On the same day, we returned the wine, complained on-site, and the seller, after tasting, doubted its sourness. He then had a colleague conduct another tasting, who was less convinced of the wine's quality. After a ten-minute discussion, frustrated, we left the bottle there. I recently had the pleasure of visiting this outstanding wine bar, home to an almost unrivaled selection of wines – and most impressively, champagnes. The atmosphere struck the perfect balance between elegance and comfort, making it the kind of place you never want to leave.

Our server, Anja, was exceptional – attentive, gracious, and armed with a truly remarkable knowledge of wine. She guided us through the list with passion and precision, turning each choice into a discovery.
