A very busy, popular place, and I found myself wondering why. my waiter recommended the pork, and I added a cauliflower soup. Both were expertly prepared, but the soup's delight ended when I ran out of croutons and the sparse florets of curried, (over)roast cauliflower on top. The rest was unremarkable.
The pork was flame-grilled to perfection, and came with something resembling a barbeque sauce, an unadorned slice of sweet potato, grilled corn, and painfully over-salted mushrooms. Barbeque sauce is undoubtedly an exotic novelty here in Paris, but to my American taste buds, it evoked out-of-the-jar mediocrity rather than the kind of secret recipe magic one gets at a good BBQ joint in the States. It was the opposite of the culinary experience I would want from a Parisian bistro. Had I known I was getting faux-American cuisine, I'd have ordered anything else. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was captivated by the warm and inviting atmosphere that whispered of authentic Parisian charm.
The culinary journey that awaited me at Les Fauves was nothing short of extraordinary. Every dish that graced the table was expertly crafted, and the presentation was simply breathtaking. It was evident that the skill and passion of the chefs went beyond merely creating a meal – they were artists who painted with flavors. Each bite was a harmonious symphony of textures and tastes that danced...
Read moreVery good food and exceptional service. The waitress I had was very courteous and gracious in my attempt to speak French. My only regret was that, unlike in the States, they don't automatically put a tip option when you run a credit card and I didn't have the euros to give her extra. She was worth it. I boldly ordered the tartar and she made sure I knew it was raw beef when I ordered it. I very much appreciated this and she even explained that often people don't realize this so she wanted to make sure. It was very much appreciated and the dish was actually delicious, as was the wine and dessert. Overall, a very cozy restaurant that turned out to be a pleasant experience for my first-ever...
