Pur' - Jean-François Rouquette — Restaurant in Paris

We had dinner at this restaurant on 21 February 2023. The service was very friendly and we felt very welcomed.

The food was good and definitely a notch higher than most of the restaurants we had dined at in Paris. I think it’s worthy of the Michelin star.

However, hygiene seems to be an issue. We saw a mouse run past us in the restaurant. Our server said … ah this happens in Paris… It did spoil our appetite but we continued with dinner.

The next morning, both my partner and I suffered tummy upsets and nausea. It had to be dinner because we had skipped lunch. And I wonder if it was the undercooked prawns at dinner. It was delicious but not worth wasting one precious day of our short trip in Paris.

For a Michelin star dinner which we had paid close to Euros 700, it was disappointing that we had to witness a rodent in the restaurant which we were prepared to overlook, but we were definitely not expecting the food poisoning. I had written an email to the restaurant, and they replied apologising but then saying that hygiene standards have been maintained, if that was the case, why was there a rodent in the restaurant and why did we suffer food poisoning on our holiday? It was on of the first in my marathon and I was not as diligent in taking pictures and even paying attention to detail like today after close to an hundred star under the belt. Still, it was one that did started all. I just remember a great night, impeccable service, having this feeling that I was not in Paris anymore, I was far away from work, problems, I was in another galaxy. A galaxy of high end restaurants in Palaces. I do think by just making me forget all my problems they did already accomplished what a lot dream of. It’s a top tiers one star. No doubt. I don’t even know where to start. We had the most amazing experience of Paris, hands down. This day already started on a good note for us because we had just come from Disney Land, so the restaurant was the perfect ending. Such amazing service, best service I’ve experienced in Europe, similar to South Africa and the most amazing staff complement, really loved the diversity as well. Stefaniya was the best waitress along with the other waiters whose names I unfortunately didn’t get. The sommelier James was the perfect touch, from the US but can speak French and also so knowledgeable about his wines, he even humoured us by giving us some South African ‘touch’ when we told him we are from there, he was exceptional. This was our last night in Paris and this restaurant was the perfect ending. Loved everything...
