Café de la Paix — Restaurant in Strasbourg

I arrived at this cafe, but no one was inside. I called a few times, no response. Another client joined me and called, but still no response. 5 minutes later, a woman came out from inside. No greeting, no explanation, no apology.

I ordered a 4.5€ panna cotta, and the woman requested 5€ from me. I asked, wasn't it written 4.5€? Then she justified that there was a 0.5€ charge to dine in. When I changed to take my order away, this woman sneered at me.

Honestly, I don't understand how she could feel entitled to be absent from work, to charge a fee without informing the client, and to sneer at a client changing to take away to avoid conflicts on a surprise fee to dine in.

A man who entered the shop after me, claiming to work there, looked around for a notification about the dine-in charge and confirmed to me that this charge was published nowhere...

I just arrived and the woman, really energetic, told me to take my coffe in 20 minutes max because people are coming for lunch. Not nice the beginning. Then the woman came really fast: many young waitress should learn from her. That helps to finish in 20 minutes but not the croissant: in the country where you can find the tenderest croissant you can't serve something that makes a ball of pastry in the mouth. Maybe it was from yesterday? I don't know but I am sure the 3'50 I paid for a short coffee and a bad croissant is definitely overpriced. I had an absolutely terrible experience at this restaurant. The place was filthy—tables were sticky, floors were grimy, and I even saw bugs near the food prep area. It was clear that cleanliness is not a priority here. As for the food, it was downright awful. Everything tasted off, like it had been sitting out for far too long, and the presentation was unappetizing. To make matters worse, the cutlery was very dirty and filthy, which made the whole experience even more unappealing. I couldn’t even finish my meal. Save your money and avoid this place...
