We saved one of our best meals in Georgia for last. Tamtaki isnāt just a sandwich shopāitās the kind of small, soulful place that reminds you why supporting local businesses matters. Tucked away in Tbilisi, this zero-frills spot is run by a daughter-mother duo who are clearly pouring love and purpose into every order.
We had read about Tamtaki before our trip and made sure to stop in before heading to the airport. Let me just say: totally worth it. We tried the beef tamtaki (juicy, rich, full of bold, spiced flavor), the chicken tamtaki, and the gebzhalia tamtaki, which was an unexpected standoutācreamy, herby, and fresh, like a modern spin on a traditional Georgian dish. All three were packed with flavor and wrapped in the most incredible breadābaked fresh to order, pillowy-light, and the perfect blank canvas for everything inside.
Portions are generousāthree sandwiches fed four adults, and we left fully satisfied and wishing we had space for more.
This is the kind of place that stays with you. No gimmicks, no pretenseājust real food made with care and intention. Tamtaki is officially a highlight of our trip and will be on our āmust returnā list for every future...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood: the pork tamtaki I ordered was pedestrian and was not cooked to my preference. Basically, it is is just glorified street food at a restaurant price
Service: same as anywhere in Tbilisi, not great not bad
Atmosphere: small place, it was dark inside. Outside area has small tables bolted into the sidewalk, you basically sit on a window sill and you are so close to the street that you have to move your feet so that they are not run over by a passing car. The outside seating area is facing a wall with graffiti laced with profanities. Not great for kids.
I took a cab from another part of the city just to try your tamtaki because it was well recommended online and on youtube, but my experience was a complete...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTamtaki was on my āāmust tryā list since the opening and finally, I am in Tbilisi. š I tried beef Tamtaki and it was absolutely delicious, savory, and full of flavor. My friends ordered Tamtaki with beans and also with Gebjalia which is mint-flavored local soft cheese. Both of them enjoyed their meal. I also had their tasty Peach Compote as a refreshing beverage. The service was friendly, the interior was nice, and the prices were a bit high but quite reasonable for the experience. Overall, if you're looking for something different and flavorful with a Mediterranean flair in the city, it's definitely...
