Should have taken the negative reviews a bit more seriously, with hindsight. Came here with two friends to celebrate my final evening in Berlin. Service was ok to start - we ordered drinks and edamame (which came plain, without the advertised salt).
Despite red flags in other reviews, my friend made the mistake of ordering the tan tan ramen. It was very unappetising, with a ball of fishy-smelling pale chicken that looked like it had been formed using an ice cream scoop just floating in there - not what you would expect of tan tan ramen. The bok choy also seemed uncooked.
With two dishes at the table left uneaten, you would expect the waiter to ask if the food was ok, or offer an opportunity for feedback. Instead the waitress was extremely brusque and inattentive. In the hopes that the Szechuan noodle dish ordered might somehow taste better the next day (and to limit food waste) we asked for a box to take it away. The waitress grumbled over her shoulder that this would incur a 50c fee as she stormed away with the plate, suddenly in an awful mood with us. We left, thinking the price paid (including, mistakenly, a tip) was at this stage too much to salvage.
For what it’s worth, one person was able to finish their dish (monk’s bowl) so if you do find yourself eating here, perhaps that is...
Read moreHello! My name is Amanda, I am Brazilian, I live in Berlin and I would like to give you my feedback about my experience at the restaurant. Yesterday I went to the restaurant for the first time with a German friend and ordered the number 72. I pronounced the word "zweiundsiebzig" with the sound "zweiundsiebziCH" pointing to the menu, to which the waitress responded with a pitying smile, correcting my pronunciation "Ahn? ZweiundsiebziK". My German friend corrected her by saying "Whatever", since both pronunciations are correct and should be understood as such. The woman did not do this out of spite, but it is rude. As a Brazilian working in Berlin, I would not correct the German of a foreign client. Given that we are both foreigners, this sounds very rude (even if not intentional) and made me feel embarrassed, I am not intimate with this woman. I would recommend better communication between the restaurant and its customers, because unlike me, it is possible that some customers will get so irritated by this that they will not return to the restaurant. Don't treat your customers like you wouldn't want to be treated by them about your way of speaking German. Anyway, the food was delicious and made up for...
Read moreGreat location , very delicious food and amazing decor. But still I gave 3 because the service was not good. Just to share, when at the end, I asked to pack the remaining food for takeaway, the waitress almost like dumped the food in the container in fornt of us. It just spoiled my bag also, but that's the least of concern here. The most important part that the act of packing was very disrespectful for the food on the table and the customers both. It could have been done better. In terms of space, it is very good, not congested, I really liked the decoration and wooden touch all over the place. Very calming and unique. In fact I have never seen toilets in restaurants so beautifully designed decorated. There was addiinal floor for more seating and additional space. Menu also has very good spread of selections. Good...
