Il Punto — Restaurant in Berlin

Popped in for a mid-afternoon snack of vegetables and salad. The service was impersonal. As there wasn't a particular dish with vegetables, I asked for spinach, courgettes, green beans etc. I was charged €16.50 for a dish of vegetables! That's overkill. On top, they didn't even bother taking the stalks off the veg. For example they gave me kale with hardly any leaf but a massive thick stalk in the middle of each leaf. Usually you're supposed to take the stalks off and discard them.

I think the owners see themselves as "premium" because they are situated in a nice area full of embassies and businesses. Their premium outlook on life probably means that they'll only provide a nice service to diners who spend above a certain amount.

Also to put things in context, I popped into another Italian restaurant in Berlin and was provided a wonderful service and charged €10 for a ton of fresh veg.

The couple dining next to us was also overcharged for the wine they had and I heard them complaining. That seemed to fit the trend of this restaurant.

Il Punto is an elegant Italian restaurant, not far from Friedrichstraße and Unter den Linden. Prices might be on the higher range, but worth it. The owner a dedicated Italian is always around to great people and make sure that everything is perfect. Staff is friendly. The photos on the walls are great story teller of the political history of Germany. It is normal that during Business lunch hours you will see familiar faces from politics there.
