AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS
Regrettably, my recent visit to this establishment was the most disappointing hospitality experience of my life. The ordeal began when we friendly approached the waiter at around 4 pm on a peaceful Sunday. We hoped to taste some pastries by the river while enjoying a coffee. However, our enthusiastic request for a table was met with a disdainful gaze from the waiter.
There were four of us, including a 1-year-and-4-month-old child. Surprisingly, the waiter didn't inquire about our seating preferences, even though the place was virtually empty. He ushered us to an isolated outdoor table. A second gentleman, casually dressed in flip-flops, handed us menus but appeared visibly uncomfortable with the presence of the child and our multilingual conversations. He preemptively questioned which language we intended to use before we even mention a word to him.
After placing our orders, I ventured in search of the restroom. Upon finding that gentleman in the corridor, I politely inquired about its location. To my dismay, I was met with silence and averted eyes. The gentleman turned his back to me and pointed in an unsympathetic manner. Upon my return, our orders were on the table, but my friend, who had tried to breastfeeding her child, was subjected to an embarrassing situation. When she informed that we would soon be leaving, the gentleman audaciously demanded 1 euro for restroom use, loudly and in the presence of other.
As we left the premises, my friends shared that the gentleman had expressed discomfort with my friend's breastfeeding, affirming that it made other customers uneasy. It's important to emphasize that this behavior, in 2023, is not just a disservice to Berlin's hospitality; it reflects an antisocial, segregating, and misogynistic attitude. Any discomfort with a woman breastfeeding in a public place should prompt individuals to seek psychological support. The right to breastfeed is legally protected, and no woman should be sent to a restroom for this natural act, let alone endure such comments.
It's disheartening to witness such a lack of empathy, respect, and courtesy in a service setting. Reading other reviews, I sincerely hope that the management of this establishment undergoes an immediate transformation. To anyone reading this review, I repeat it, avoid this place at all costs. Berlin deserves better than such inhospitable and regressive...
Read moreThis was the worst restaurant I have ever been! I never had such an unpleasant situation in my life in any restaurant in all over the world. The waiters and the manager are super rude and very unfriendly. They need a real lesson how to talk to clients and how to manage a business! I strongly recommend not to go there! We wanted fresh juice, the rude manager said they dont have it. Ok, we were trying to choose something else but suddenly he went away without taking our order. After long waiting and ordering terrible food, I asked for check and to pay by card. The other rude waiter said tip should be included. I didnt want to tip because I didnt like the service at all.
He said I must tip!
Such a strange waiter, deciding whether I should tip or not! I said I know what I should do, it is not him who will decide whether I will tip or not. Then he became more and more rude and used f words. He put the amount and tried to take my card for payment, of course I took it back immediately, and I warned him to talk to me politely, and that he cannot take my card from my hand. Then he said :
" ok put the f.king card and dont come here anymore."
I was very angry and we had a little quarrel. I said that he should talk to me with manners, and he should learn how to talk to clients. He threatened me to call the police and I said, ok call the police, I am waiting. Of course he couldnt call any police. I didnt use any rude word, and I definitely will not go there again.
At last the super rude manager came, took the bill and didnt even say sorry for the situation.
My recommendation, dont visit such places with terrible comments to give them a real lesson. There are dozen of nice restaurants out there, but definitely this is not...
Read moreDO NOT GO HERE. I was harassed by the owner DANILO as a female traveller who visited the restaurant alone! He was cursing me in German because I asked for a table outside, and the place was empty but he still refused and was name calling. I asked for a glass of tap water and at the end during billing he charged me 8 euro for the glass of water claiming that they don’t have tap water and when I refused he literally started threatening me that he will call the cops. Bottom line is even if I didn’t know that water is charged, he didn’t have the right to yell, curse and try to intimidate me. I infact told him to go ahead and call the cops. I’m writing this review while waiting here for COPS to arrive. I don’t like being taken advantage of just because I’m a foreigner in the country and not familiar with the language.
Anyway the cops came and obviously I got no support. In fact when I paid the bill and left I saw them all laughing along with the owner. No wonder women hesitate to travel alone as solo travellers to Germany. Now I get it.
PS- the whole time he was ACTING like he can’t understand English. While I watched him converse very easily in English with every other “foreigner” there. Danilo I know you were very very happy and thought that I will get scared or panic because of the cops and you were laughing the whole time I was speaking to them. But you should worry about your personality and character. It’s really cheap and vulgar and good luck to the women...
