We came for dinner after this being the most local restaurant to where we were staying. We had long island iced teas, sushi rolls (ebi maki) , duck on holiday and lucky beef.
The long island iced teas were not good; disappointing as they tasted just like orange juice with a dash of alcohol. Not good and not a usual long island iced tea.
The ebi rolls were flavourless and not freshly made given how quickly they came out. They tasted bland, were mushy, and falling apart on arrival.
The duck on holiday dish looked good on first glance. The duck was hard, dry and was grey. The lighting in the room makes it difficult to see this unless you really look up close. When I told two staff members this, I was told they would tell the chef but we did not see this. Nothing was done about it and we were still charged full price despite complaining and barely eating.
The beef was okay. Very chewy but a good broth. The poc choy was half and half; a few bits were cooked and some was raw.
The sauce we were given was sriracha in a dish with a spoon. We used some of this, and it was then taken back to the bar area. They took the spoon out, put more sauce on top, then covered back over to be used again. This made us feel really uncomfortable as we questioned how many times this had been done. Somebody before us could have dipped directly into the sauce and how many times it has been re-used before us is so unhygienic! Unbelievable.
Would NOT recommend and we will not...
Read moreService: Went there for dinner around almost 10 on a Saturday where the restaurant was half full. The restaurant has like 4 seating areas but we were for unknown reason directed to choose a seat within the 2 areas but when I asked if we could choose one of the tables in the other 2 areas, eyebrows were raised on us and were told a stern no without any reason. The same staff took our order but this time he was polite which is the very opposite of how he treated us when we chose a seat. Since there were not many customers that time, the tappas we ordered as starters came 5min after order was taken and 3mins after we finished them, main dishes arrived which is quite fast. When we were ready to pay, we noticed that the staffs were not busy but no one bothered to see if we needed anything else even though we tried getting their attention.
Food: The food tasted great especially the tappas we ordered but the main dishes were a bit too salty for my taste and I think they use the same ingredients for the sauces of both dishes which I find odd. Portion-wise they were big enough but the main dishes had more salad in it than the rice and meat
Atmosphere: Great ambience for dinner and they have an outside seating area which is perfect for warm evenings but as any other restaurant, if you're sensitive to smoke as me, you better avoid the area as they allow customers to smoke while eating which I think is a very big disappointment if you wanted to...
Read moreI'm torn on how I'm supposed to feel.
The best thing first, one of the waitors we had was extremely friendly, which makes a huge difference in the experience. Secondly, the interior is quite lovely imo. especially around the bathroom, there's a tree with twittering birds coming through the speakers. In general, this place looks good!
Unfortunately though the food wasn't great, especially considering the hefty price of for example 12.90€ for a set of Tuna IO. The size of the rolls was laughable. It's hard to find good sushi in Berlin to be honest and this place isn't great either. Some of the IO rolls had the size of Maki's. Not only that, the Avocado pieces were always much bigger than the actual fish...but it doesn't stop there, the Nigiri had the same trademark of being a joke of a size and rice being hard/harder. One a positive note, the dumplings, I think they were called "pillows" were extremely well made, which is little solace though considering again, the price/size/taste of the Sushi.
We sat in a smaller room, which due to it's build got very loud once every seat was taken. This however, is personal taste, as I'm not fond of louder places whereas others would deem it a great experience.
In summary, I don't think you'll be massively disappointed going here but probably won't be coming back either after...
