Ristorante Marea — Restaurant in Berlin

We must of come on a bad day or the reviewer’s here have absolutely no idea of what Italian food should taste like!! Came into this place last night after a long flight and greeted very poorly by an abrupt small bald waiter with an attitude (both) twice his size and one that does not belong in the hospitality/food service industry. His attitude put me off immediately the moment I walked in and normally I would have walked straight back out again but my wife was hungry. My wife had a meat dish that not even a chainsaw could handle even though it was extremely under cooked!! It was (to be totally honest) like leather. I chose a safe dish which was (to say the least) absolutely poor. Penne Arabiata with not a touch of chilli punch inherited in the extremely poor sauce which was basically tomato purée. The rocket salad was fresh and well presented but I extremely doubt whoever it was in the kitchen has got any idea of Italian cuisine and how to prepare it. Upon leaving and bringing the meat dish issue to the attention of the bald waiter we were again greeted by his attitude. You really need some customer service training mate. If you’re having a bad day, go home. Your attitude completely drowns your (if it’s yours) business. I have been in the kitchen and food service trade for a considerable number of years and can understand that you had a large occasion booking by the arrangement of tables. However, you really need to lift your standards to food industry levels or move onto a different business. Total...

The only positive thing I can say about this restaurant is its location, but I am really not sure if you feel like spending 25 euro just paying for a seat with a nice view.

Pizza, which was positined as "from the oven" obviously had a ready-made half-frozen stale dough bought in a supermarket, pasta bologhese had a clandestine pieces of orange (??) in it that probably got there from another dish carelessly made nearby and limoncello tasted like a dilluted tea with a drop of alcohol.

As a person who has travelled extensively around Italy and wrote culture guides, I woud call this restaurant a sham that fools foreign tourists who visit Potsdamer Plaz and, seeing the italian name of the place, trust to taste something really italian (meaning really high-quality) there. However, this does not happen - or, maybe the bar of expectiations is really low.

Another important thing (traditionally unacceptable for italian services) is a way the waiter treated his clients. I truely cound not believe he was italian!

We: We are hesitating between pasta bolognese and melanzana. What would you recommend? Marea waiter: These are two different dishes. I have no idea what you want.

We: Could you help us understand what size is a portion of bolognese, please? Marea waiter: It's normal size.

I mean: this is a way to communicate with your clients in the center of the European capital? If someone hates people, why taje up a job in the industry where you are supposed to act in a...

Wonderful restaurant in the heart of Berlin. The restaurant shocked me, and I was very much and pleasantly surprised. I have been to many Italian restaurants all over Europe (not counting Italy) and this restaurant touched me the most. The first thing that pleasantly pleased me was that Italians work in the restaurant, usually in Europe Italian restaurants are opened and Arabs work there (not racism), just Italians know their business better. Service at the highest level, we came not long before closing, maybe an hour and a half remained, but we were accepted. Friendly hostess and amazing and loyal waiters. I especially want to thank the waiter Mario, the man is a master of his craft, Mario provided us with friendly and warm welcome and the best service. The food was great, delicious. Also, my wife and I received a compliment from the establishment. Inside the restaurant, I did not pay much attention to the interior, but what I noticed for sure is that the restaurant is very nice and, most importantly, clean. The restroom was also very clean and tidy and smelled delicious. If you want to have a great romantic evening and a delicious meal, then I recommend this place! Thanks a...
