Schwarze Pumpe — Restaurant in Berlin

I went to this place as a part of "Bite Berlin" food tour and the tour ended there with a glass of sparkling wine. The vibe is unique: there is a real old black pump and also old clock meters and pipes to give the place a bit of Soviet/ex-DDR feel, the service is excellent, the toilets in the 2nd floor is clean and shiny, and good music in the background that was pleasant and not loud, it was a perfect afternoon! "Rotkäppchen" is a well known German brand of sparkling wine, for over 160 years! this brand is from DDR East Germany and all that time, including 2 world wars it kept it good reputation. So that what we had, when outside is cold inside it was warm and welcoming and friendly. A perfect place to meet...

We were in Berlin about a month ago and I’m still thinking back fondly of our experience at Schwarze Pumpe. Our experience was so memorable thanks to our server, Stefanie (sorry if misspelled). My wife and I were waiting to check in to our Airbnb and were getting a little nervous we might have scammed by our Airbnb host (fortunately we weren’t!), but Stefanie was so helpful in assuring us that if it didn’t work out she could help us out. Really love this hangout spot. It's authentic German with a very local feel. The menu changes daily, the service is really friendly (despite being swamped a lot of the time), and the vibe hits the nail on the head for us. There's even live music on Sunday nights! Everything we've had to eat has been great, even though we've only been a couple of times now. But with all the options in Berlin, I think our repeat visit within a week says something.
