These guys are prepared to put your health at risk.
We booked a table for 4 the night before the Berlin marathon for some classic carb loading. We had one celiac in the group and some of the pasta had gluten free choices, so all good.
When we arrived and sat down we asked to confirm that we could get gluten free pasta options and got the reply ‘No. it’s the marathon. You can have broccoli soup’. We asked to confirm the ingredients and first of all the waiter said ‘Broccoli.’ We pushed for more and asked him to check with the kitchen. He came back and said the chef didn’t know what was in it. He also made it clear that he wasn’t going to give us any more info.
We decided to leave. On the way out I complained to the manager that a kitchen that didn’t know what they were putting in food could cause allergy issues. He shrugged and our waiter stood next to him repeating ‘goodbye’ over and over.
If you have any kind of allergy, or want to be treated decently, go...
Read moreI originally went to this restaurant with my girlfriend and we had a great dinner. When her parents came to town (they are not from Germany), we had a nice dinner, but the problem came when we got the bill. Since they thought we were tourists from out of town, they tried to pull a scam by adding a bogus service charge indicated in German, but it was written on the bill simply as if it was another part of our meal, and also taxed with the VAT. They then wrote in English at the bottom of the bill that tip is not included. We asked them, and they indicated that this is a normal practice. This is definitely not true, and in fact when my girlfriend and I ate there the previous week, we did not have this charge.
Basically if you are in town and looking to get ripped off, then go for it. Otherwise fighting over the bill at the end of a nice meal is not worth your time, there are tons of other great Italian restaurants...
Read moreThis restaurant was facing our hotel so we thought we would try. We had a disappointing experience as this is definitely not a true Italian restaurant. It just happens that they serve pizzas and pastas. This place is not kid friendly although it has a kids menu, they don’t have baby chairs. What made our experience negative was the service itself, especially that after we ordered drinks, 2 pizzas, pasta, salad, and asked for the bill the waiter said it’s cash only although they show everywhere that they accept cards. He mentioned this applies to dinner only and not lunch, which again is not indicated anywhere and pointed us at a nearby ATM. Of course he took advantage of us being tourists and we did push back and pay using card. This is probably the worst experience we had during our stay in Berlin. The food quality and the service were below average, I wouldn’t...
