My boyfriend ordered a choco-strawberry mouse buttercream cake for my birthday. Once we opened it, we thought that's our cake, but it wasn't. We cut two thin slices and already realised there is an essential missing layer of strawberry mouse. It looked nice with the pastel deco from outside but inside it was extremely dry and lack of taste. We didn't taste the flavour we ordered. The mouse was totally absent and only a thin layer of buttercream was present.
As it meant to be a nice surprise birthday cake, which is quite expensive, we decided to bring it back to the shop. Once we talked to the responsible manager , we got offered to be fully refunded. It sounded really great until she suddenly changed her mind and called to double check with the pastry maker. Then they had a lengthy discussion over the phone and told it was nevertheless our cake.. Then the situation took a twist and had to negotiate to get half refunded plus 2 slices of cake from the shop, while we insisted that it was not the cake we ordered. We had no other choice than accepting the offer that was neglecting our need. Lack of understanding, customer care to realise that they made a mistake. We dealt with an unfortunate unprofessionalism. The quality of preordered cake (in our case) compare to the cakes you get in store are significantly different. Therefore, we will never order any cake from there knowing how costly it is and you simply don't know what you gonna...

There isn’t really anything interesting or original about Cafe Neundrei, but then again they might say the same thing about me.
To clarify, I had a really nice time here, and the food and drinks were great. The chai latte was excellent and the sandwiches were really good too — we had the pulled mushroom bagel and the vegan salmon sandwich (the latter was tastier in my opinion).
The employees were really friendly and the vibe was good — reading a book was totally possible even though it was quite busy.
So why not five stars? I don’t know. Maybe my standards are too high, because this is a nice place and great for vegans. Or maybe I’m just spoiled for cafés in Berlin (I do think it’s pretty similar in style to a lot of vegan and non vegan coffee shops / cafés).
Anyway. I’m just a guy that bought a sandwich and read a book. What do I know?
Thanks for the smile and nice customer...
Read moreTime for an update: after first adding the little space downstairs they finally have grown to take over the space next door bringing this little cafe to an even higher level. It is still the perfect place to indulge yourself, but now they also have space for those searching for a quiet corner with Wi-Fi for a work call. The staff speaks English and is genuinely welcoming. They have plenty of vegan options but you can have regular milk in your drinks if you want. The cakes are vegan too and they are simply tasty and rich (you can pre-order them for events too). The prices are very reasonable considering the quality they offer. If you are on a diet and are short on will-power stay away. Only down side for me is that they don’t offer decaf coffee. It’s ok to have tea or matcha drinks but it’s not quite the same, they promised it’s coming soon so I’ll have to come...
