La Piazza — Restaurant in Cologne

Customer service is inconsistent across wait staff and could use major improvement. Food is of average quality. In my opinion, the Google review rating of the restaurant is inflated.

Originally I ordered my beverage to start my meal and asked the waitress to come back later to take my meal order. She came back 10 minutes later, removed my menu, did not ask me what I wanted to order, and moved on to a new party which just arrived.

Waitress talked to the new party, took their order, and disappeared for approximately 20 minutes. Next time I saw her, she was bringing out food for the party which arrived after me. I said “excuse me” as she walked by my table after when she finished bringing the other table their food and was ignored. I then walked over to the waitress to mention that she forgot to take my order. She claimed I ordered something and I mentioned that I had only ordered a beverage and nothing else. The waitress placed the food order and the food arrived 10 minutes later.

I ordered a pizza and it was average. The crust was burnt on some of the edges. The toppings themself were premium quality though.

After my food came out, the waitress disappeared again. Once I finished my food, I could not find my waitress to request the bill. I saw her on her phone texting inside (I was sitting outside). Another waiter stopped by and asked if I was done for my food. He was super helpful and prompted my waitress to quickly bring me the bill.

Overall, I was very disappointed in the service. I understand when wait staff mess up one aspect of the service and try their best to make the rest of the meal pleasant for the customer, but the entire service had...

The food was great, but the service was AMAZING. We were traveling from and one of our kids was exhausted and also had low blood sugar that led to an emotional breakdown on their patio. We went to leave and the staff told us it wasn’t necessary and that kids were allowed to have emotions even at inconvenient times. The staff was amazing, they brought out a small treat and a smoothie. They let us take our food to a bench down the walk way so the child wasn’t embarrassed and they were so understanding! We came here with a big appetite and the food was great! I ordered the creamy pasta with chicken and pesto and it was just what I was craving! My friends ordered different pizzas and they all enjoyed it and the portions were good.

One thing though was the tables were really close together and the music was a playlist we would play in a club. It was funny but at some point we had to ask the waiter to lower the volume because we couldn’t hear each other. The waiter also was a little sassy sometimes but it wasn’t dramatic we still enjoyed it.
