Located on the corner of Carlsplatz, the Café de Bretagne is a French restaurant that offers affordable lunch options. I had lunch with a friend, who also is quite selective and appreciates quality cuisine, and both of us were pleasantly surprised. For starters we had a zucchini soup topped off with a creamy foam and Styrian pumpkin seed oil. The main dish was a fresh codfish with rice and vegetables. The presentation was typical of a restaurant that wants to positively surprise you not only with the quality of the ingredients but also the way these are composed on the plate. The service was friendly and the atmosphere easy going. Compared to the street food options on Carlsplatz, here you will find an extensive menu and an assortment of wines. On hot days, their street windows are kept open creating a bit of the Parisian street flair. If you like French food, love fresh fish, want to sit down, value good quality and don´t mind to pay a bit more for lunch (including a large bottle of still mineral water, the cost per head was approx. 17 EUR), then put Café de Bretagne...
Read moreWe were looking for good coffee in Düsseldorf and found this as a suggestion on Google. When we tried to order with a male server. He told us that this is a restaurant and not a Cafe. Despite the sign out front and the name of the business saying it is a Cafe. It was 4:35pm. And they're was no one ordering lunch or dinner. He said we could go across the road to a coffee shop. This is very rude and should not be the way you talk to anyone. However a few minutes later we were greeted by a woman server. She was lovely. She was happy to take our order and produced 2 cups of very nice coffee. She also brought an ashtray when she could see one of us smoked. (we were seated outside at a row of empty tables) she is a true professional and knows how to make customers feel welcome. She...
Read moreI love everything about this restaurant. We were looking for a good seafood restaurant and checked couple of them and didn’t find them interesting.
We check the reviews for here and decided to go. The waiters were very welcoming and we got a table inside pretty quick.
Thought if it wasn’t a rain, we would sit outside, but inside it was cozy and nice too.
We got the menu and it was in french and german. I asked one of the waitress to help us!!
She was super helpful and patient and explain the dishes for us, although she had a hard time to find the english words. Really appreciate that.
We tried couple of seafood dishes, and crepes for dessert. It was fantastic and it was really tasty.
We definitely come back when visiting...
